is god, in any religion, defined as 'infinitely powerful'?

2019-07-24 09:45:41 UTC

acorrding to most, god is infinite

2019-07-24 09:46:32 UTC

but if you asked god to bring into existence a rock that cannot possibly be lifted, that breaks that idea

2019-07-24 11:36:33 UTC

God would be the only one with the ability to lift it

2019-07-24 14:44:17 UTC

but then that means god is unable to make a rock that god cannot lift

2019-07-24 14:44:35 UTC

which is not infintely powerful

2019-07-24 15:35:42 UTC

God makes the rock. Then lifts it anyways

2019-07-24 15:36:49 UTC

@Ranaclan Do you know what it is like to be omnipotent?

2019-07-24 16:41:44 UTC

no

2019-07-24 16:41:52 UTC

i don't think so

2019-07-24 21:36:48 UTC

Insert laugh track here

2019-07-25 00:38:52 UTC

@Bibleman yo what are the major translation differences between KJV and others

2019-07-25 00:48:57 UTC

Different translations have some differences scattered all over, usually not a big deal, though I prefer CJB for old testament

2019-07-25 00:57:32 UTC

But the message stays the same more or less

2019-07-25 01:18:11 UTC

Ye

2019-07-25 01:20:30 UTC

Ok cool

2019-07-25 01:52:08 UTC

Though, check older translations

2019-07-25 01:52:16 UTC

Sometimes corruptions sneak in

2019-07-25 07:09:47 UTC

The KJV is the best of the standard biblical texrs

2019-07-25 10:07:30 UTC

I prefer the GNB and WEB translations for the canonical texts.

2019-07-25 10:07:57 UTC

But the KJV is good too

2019-07-25 12:07:49 UTC

For the non-canonical texts (Gospel of Thomas, 5 Maccabees, 2-3 Enoch, etc), I just go with whatever is available.

2019-07-25 17:35:48 UTC

@AnUnknownRider are you actually a libertarian socialist

2019-07-25 17:36:00 UTC

No

2019-07-25 17:36:08 UTC

Ancom?

2019-07-25 17:48:25 UTC

Not really

2019-07-25 17:49:09 UTC

Look at your roles

2019-07-25 18:06:37 UTC

Cjb imo is best for old testament

2019-07-25 18:06:53 UTC

It is more accurate Hebrew to english

2019-07-25 18:08:13 UTC

Admittedly the kjv old testament seems a bit biased towards a certain view even when the Hebrew doesn't agree

2019-07-26 03:05:58 UTC

@Hamburger Guy Yes, I do hold an anarchic viewpoint, And i do like some of the ideas in Marxism, However i won't call myself an Ancom as i'm not.

2019-07-26 03:07:12 UTC

@Bibleman I'll have to look into that version then, I've been looking for a good "study" translation (so to speak) of the canonical texts of the Old Testament for a while.

2019-07-26 03:08:06 UTC

AnUnknownRider, quick question, do you believe in the Big Bang?

2019-07-26 03:08:12 UTC

However i wouldn't use it for standard reading, In my opinion, The GNB and WEB versions do the trick in that part.

2019-07-26 03:08:15 UTC

@Cookie I do.

2019-07-26 03:09:07 UTC

So, I've been looking for someone who Believes in the Big Bang, cause I wanna talk like 1 on 1 to see proofs of the big bang.(since I'm a Christian)

2019-07-26 03:09:22 UTC

Willing to do that?

2019-07-26 03:10:57 UTC

Not at the moment, But perhaps later on we can we i'm in the mood to full-on chat.

2019-07-26 03:11:11 UTC

Ok.

2019-07-26 05:41:56 UTC

The big bang did happen

2019-07-26 08:20:29 UTC

for 12 excruciating seasons, I know
