I would argue that it doesn’t matter what you say, if you enter the public arena to comment, even to comment on the commentary like we are doing here (meta-comment?), you’re exposed to misinterpretation, whether you are meticulously self-editing, or flippantly posting stream-of-consciousness with no filter.

I actually agree with your underlying point (even if just as a matter of prudence). I think you narrow the range and lower the probability of being misinterpreted by avoiding certain writing styles and topics, and consciously self-filtering and editing.

(I found the poop emoji more funny than offensive, lol). I don’t know anyone here, but if I were you, I would want to hear that.

Idk, I saw that as @meglide matching your tone first. I thought both you and @meglide were making some good points yesterday in the beginning - interesting conversation - and you both were explaining the logic behind them. I wanted to hear more about your observations on MMT and get out of this definition debate, back around historical use (or non-use) of open market operations and potentially reversible monetary policy actions from the Fed... especially since you both seemed to have good foundations, but after a couple of exchanges, instead of elaborating or explaining, it looked like you started getting frustrated; substituting elaboration with, in my opinion, a very poor appeal to a claim of self-developed expertise as a source (“I studied economics” - this statement comes across like a naive freshman college kid. you know the type - the one who dishes out psychology advice and makes diagnoses while taking a Psych 101 class). It would be much more persuasive to know WHERE you worked in economics professionally and academically - as an outsider that would change the polarity of that claim from hurting to helping your ethos... After that, my perception of you changed and it impacted the way I interpreted your arguments, for worse. And when pressed, you resort to ad hominem attacks, and eventually ignored the actual argument entirely. I would have liked to see an actual response because I was interested in the original points you were making. I too have been under the impression since my college economics classes that this stimulus is the same sort of non-conservative approach to economics, which includes what I also believe to be debt monetization the way @meglide described it. I was curious to hear another perspective, learn something, and possibly change my mind... In other words, I was a little disappointed that you decided to “take your ball and go home” lol

But unfortunately it does more harm to your ability to persuade outsiders who are interested in learning! To extend your analogy: If your mechanic is interjecting into a public conversation forum, I would expect that your mechanics’ intended audience is more broad than you!

Some universities give two different types of economics degrees - one for Bachelors of Arts and one for Bachelors of Science. I’m not sure what the difference is, probably the amount of statistics/math courses?

I am too. It's people like that james guy who just wants to sweep everything under the conspiracy rug, and put on blinders to any claims of any issues at all. There are clearly issues - there has always been fraud in the election, especially since digital voting machines have been in place.

I don't think the election was "stolen" here. I don't think there's a mass conspiracy. And I bet if you open up the process, systems, and data, you'd find that incompetence and operational inconsistencies are much more of an issue that intentional fraud. But these systems should be open to question and investigation, hands down.

this is true. R has gone over it on the stream, and as an attorney, the courts have almost all punted on this. A couple have looked at it on the merits, like AZ, and those cases I think Biden has clearly won. I liked how AZ handled it, even if it wasn't perfect. They were a lot more transparent.

It is very interesting. I'm a financial crime regulatory consultant, and I will tell you, MOST money laundering is extremely coordinated across major players. For organized crime syndicates to rig an election where every state has different processes, and none are accountable to a higher authority for auditing or quality control, would be child's play compared to what they are currently able to pull off.

But I don't think organized crime is involved in this, and I don't think democrats (or republicans) are organized well enough to pull it off, lol.

I want a clear explanation of the systems that went offline in the questioned states, and why it took so long (weeks, in some cases) to count all the ballots. Maybe it's there and I haven't been able to muddle through the garbage that is mainstream media to find it.... but that's what would put my comfort levels at ease. Not just a statement, a full investigation by an impartial 3rd party.

One of the biggest surprises to me was that Republicans didn't get on it and rig the ballots first... aren't Republicans supposed to be the shady white-collar-crime types? 😄 😄 😄

Yeah, the allegations that it was incited are pretty weak. I went back and watched the speech, it’s typical Trump talking about how great he is, sometimes in the second person with “we”, but nothing inciting violence.
That said I don’t think he was particularly upset about it either...

NC, NJ, CO, MI, AZ, and NV - great states to register to vote if you don’t have an ID or can’t find your proof of domestic residence, because they ask for none of it.

So easy, so convenient. I don’t get why all states aren’t doing it that way!! I can’t be bothered to find my drivers license or a utility bill when it comes time to vote - the rest of the country needs to lose their archaic attitudes and get with the times!

I was able to register in CO even though I never lived there, registered before, have no CO drivers license, no CO address, etc. But I couldn’t register in NC because they required in-person registration, and you were required to have a NC issued ID to do it (unless you got some exemption signed from the state commission or something)

Idk, voter fraud charges are EXTREMELY discretionary - I don’t think almost any DAs would bring those right now.

My gut agrees with you. I hesitate because it would be indicating gaps in their OWN states system, which I don’t think ANY state is willing to do right now with a trigger-happy president who might sue you to get the votes thrown out. But I think you’re probably right, especially for right-leaning states.

I’ll say it again - if the system could have been rigged to swing the vote, I’m surprised Trump didn’t get himself a piece of that
