Why add federalism to an already federalist society? I get it, but the logic could easily be extended to the complete dissolution of the U.K. as well. The EU seems to have a lot of other things with their mandates which donโ€™t apparently go back to the individual states for evaluation. The mandates on immigration for the refugees seems to be first and foremost on that list.

2019-02-12 18:52:24 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

You forgot about his only signature piece of legislation, the tax deal.

2019-02-12 18:52:42 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

That one is YUGE.

2019-02-12 18:55:32 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Didn't go nearly as far as I would have liked, but lowering corporate taxes from 35% is the main reason the stock market grew by trillions in valuation overnight. What really would have helped is eliminating the corporate tax structure altogether.

2019-02-12 19:00:30 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

That's not a new thing. FDR was completely infiltrated by the Soviets.

2019-02-12 19:01:24 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

In fact, FDR put a Russian sympathizer in as leader of the World Bank upon its creation.

2019-02-12 19:03:16 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Yeah. Forever. Everyone is going off about interference in "democracy." Yet nobody has a clear definition of what democracy even is.

2019-02-12 19:05:41 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

The Russians, more than anything, want to see Americans fighting among ourselves. They don't really give a rat's ass about the elections, they just like to see us fighting. The rest of the world as well.

2019-02-12 19:08:58 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Yep, damn near all of it.

2019-02-12 19:18:57 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Most of them are to cover things like registering as a foreign lobbyist, tax evasion, shit like that.

2019-02-12 19:19:32 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

relatively minor.

2019-02-12 19:20:39 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Well...time to go watch Andrew Klavan, see what that madman has to say today.

2019-02-12 19:21:56 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Yep.

2019-02-12 19:23:10 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

I think he was also trying to help them get into the NATO realm, but that's such a political hot potato that Russia called up their medium range nukes on the threat that would happen.

2019-02-12 19:24:27 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

It didn't help that we moved our nuclear arsenal from Turkey to Romania, but the prick in charge over there really left us no choice. We had to move them someplace or risk his country taking the bases over.

2019-02-12 19:31:29 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Ben Shapiro did a pretty good spot on this in his first broadcast today. Showed the entire scenario, and the fact that Trump's rally was being heard at the Beto rally.

2019-02-12 19:36:29 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Appropriately titled "Tale of two rallies."

2019-02-12 19:37:07 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Klavan finally came on. Time to chill for a bit.

2019-02-12 19:40:09 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Despite being on the right, and shameless republicans, the Daily Wire does a pretty good job about their facts.

2019-02-12 19:48:25 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

I just take it with a grain of salt, and remember they're openly giving their opinions from a certain point of view. That's true with all of them.

2019-02-12 19:49:38 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Like Tim, they're not exactly coming from a journalism background.

Uh oh...need to find a podcast. Jack Dorsey on Sam Harris' podcast.

WTF Chuck?

2019-02-12 20:14:18 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Apple's new news service has publishers screaming. Apple will offer the service ~$10/mo, taking half, will not share subscriber information with publishers, and publishers would have to split the 50% subscription with each other equally.

2019-02-12 20:15:27 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Washington Post and NYT are disagreeing with the terms, but remain in talks.

2019-02-12 20:16:44 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

Beto is an idiot. His speech in incomprehensible.

2019-02-12 20:19:12 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I'll bet they agree. Turning off free money isn't smart for a failing industry.

2019-02-12 23:09:21 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

@Stefan Payne Donโ€™t completely agree with Styx, but he makes some damn good points.

2019-02-12 23:21:15 UTC [Subverse #debate]

At the core, the CHOICE to give to the poor is best. Iโ€™ve always found it odd that capitalism is completely against most principles of the Christian beliefs. Were it not for Christian beliefs, capitalism would go crazy. Still, much of the work of those who believe in communism stole their ideas from Adam Smith. They also fail to give from their pies like those Christian capitalists. Interesting dichotomies.

2019-02-12 23:22:29 UTC [Subverse #debate]

Adam Smith was the first to write about caring for the workers. We need to revisit his ideas, and incorporate more in that direction.

2019-02-12 23:27:55 UTC [Subverse #debate]

I get what I agree to receive, thatโ€™s for sure, but Iโ€™m not cheap and know my own value.

2019-02-12 23:30:41 UTC [Subverse #debate]

Government gave people the option to rely on them to โ€œset a fair priceโ€ for a minimum wage. They forgot they could (should) bargain for their own needs. This is exactly the problem with giving up freedom for security, even wage security.

2019-02-12 23:31:28 UTC [Subverse #debate]

Exactly

2019-02-12 23:32:02 UTC [Subverse #debate]

No, we arenโ€™t going onto minimum wage, we are going to government control of wage.

2019-02-12 23:34:05 UTC [Subverse #debate]

If youโ€™d like to hear someone go off about minimum wage, listen to an economist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wln6lNTxVpY

I should read it, but Iโ€™ve got certification books to read.

2019-02-12 23:38:10 UTC [Subverse #debate]

Speaking of which, it's time for me to get back to my studies.

2019-02-12 23:38:40 UTC [Subverse #debate]

Why? Because you don't pay for me.

2019-02-12 23:43:38 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

He wrote many books

Thomas Sowell actually started out as a commie.

2019-02-12 23:46:36 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Most economists do. That's why the undergrad AOC is so socialist.

2019-02-12 23:52:35 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

You really want to try and understand the complexities of our economics today, do some research on the end of WWII with special reverence to everything that happened starting with FDR, and his One World principles, leading into the rebuilding of Europe via several economic packages, and the Marshall Plan. That continues into the development of the European Union. All of this happened as a response to the Soviet buildup in Europe.

2019-02-12 23:55:05 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Bretton Woods was an absolute failure.

2019-02-12 23:56:17 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

That's where FDR appointed a Russian plant to head the World Bank.

All of those gay people who marched for gay marriage couldn't accomplish shit! Why is it legal now? Because people made a law against it, and it was brought to court and found to be unconstitutional. The unintended consequences are what undermines our country.

2019-02-13 00:13:05 UTC [Subverse #politics-free-for-all]

Why is Donald Trump president? Because the leftists continued to insult people and shut them out. Trump gave them a voice.

China has a single payer system, yet they also have 70 million uninsured.

2019-09-17 16:05:39 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I don't think it is an accident that those uninsured folk are in areas which are prone to dissent.

2019-09-17 16:06:37 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

just like it is no accident that those of us who are prone to dissent are quieted on "public" platforms.

Socialism is a matter of economics. Communism is a total societal thing. We're not comparing the same things.

2019-09-17 16:11:31 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

Iran has been surrounding Saudi Arabia since the 1980s by way of infiltrating areas, and providing weapons, strategies, and cash. Even if they didn't do it, they supplied the means to carry out the attack.

2019-09-17 16:12:51 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

It isn't in the Saudi's interest to do it. The repairs to infrastructure far exceed the upward movement in oil prices.

2019-09-17 16:13:58 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I know where you're going, but it doesn't make financial sense. I lived in Bahrain for 3 years, and trust me, I don't trust Saudis. They're professional speakers from both sides of their mouths.

2019-09-17 16:14:19 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I can too..

2019-09-17 16:14:34 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

But Saudis are businessmen first and foremost.

2019-09-17 16:14:57 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

They think with money first.

2019-09-17 16:15:52 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

More than a spike in the price of oil is going to pay them.

2019-09-17 16:16:20 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

Internally, they need the price of oil to go up over the long term.

2019-09-17 16:17:25 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

meh. Says the man who called off an earlier attack. When will people realize that Trump works in propaganda.

2019-09-17 16:18:13 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I don't trust a damn thing Trump says, until he actually does something, it's just bloviated dog whistling.

2019-09-17 16:18:44 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

Yes they have. I've been in the navy watching it for years.

2019-09-17 16:19:41 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I'd say it was rather legal. 30 years of military action in the Middle East didn't cause oil to drop, but 5 years of fracking shut them down.

2019-09-17 16:20:22 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

I really don't believe that.

2019-09-17 16:21:18 UTC [Athens #us_politics]

As with everything from the middle east, it's just covered in conspiracy backed with two levels of back-consiracy.
