and I don't mean any accusation or insult... just have you ever seen anyone question 'the movement' in any form?
but heres the big question... would you feel SAFE questioning it yourself? in public forum? if you brought up any sort of doubt or criticism would you feel safe saying it?
not someone that identifies as a feminist
when speaking to other feminists
internal debate is discouraged and ostrasized in my experience
that is a signifigant impact
I thought I recall seeing a story that their quarterly sales report shows a decline as well?
I don't really ever go to r/feminisn, because there is absolutely nothing of value there for me, so scanning through its topic right now I'm genuinely shocked how toxic and hateful it is
I mean I shouldn't be... this shouldn't shock me at all
yet it does
the majority of these topics/highly upvoted comments are just shamelessly hateful and derogatory
I guess I just expected more subtlety
I found a highly upvoted comment that was 'if you know someone accused of rape, then they are a rapist and you are in denial about it, stop defending rape'
and I just couldn't continue
the second half is about men being afraid to associate with women in the workplace for fear of false rape accusations
the post is meant to insinuate that any man afraid of a false accusation is a rapist or future rapist
I can't wait for the Ghostbusters Remake Remake to come out and be super successful, because it'll be the first solid evidence that marketing to the Social Justice Movement is huge money sink
yeah seriously women need to stop killing kids
hmm?
are you challenging us to do better?
State of the Union Address
I didn't see it but I read a manuscript
its a State of the Union address... its about a lot of things
its basically a summary of the last year's worth of political changes/goals
according to him he is doing an amazing job, everything is better (mostly because of him), and the US is more powerful now than it has ever been at any point in history
other countries suck and are liars... and he is going to build a wall no matter what because walls are awesome and solve all our problems
umemployment is no longer a 'good' indicator for the health of the economy
as economists are coming to agreement on
consumer spending power is at depression era levels
whether or not you are employed no longer indicates if you are participating in a healthy economy
um... not quickly
I recall seeing an article today about 40% of americans being one paycheck away from homelessness
let me find that
the working class has no financial safety net
which means any sort of economic instability could be earth shattering
well wage stagnation is also a problem
actual spending power of the minimum wage hasn't increased since the 70s
its only adjusted for inflation, not cost of living
to the same amount of money for the same jobs does not go nearly as far
its why you hear about people 'putting themselves through college' in the 70s but nowadays you hear about people being in debt for their entire lives to student loans
I recall seeing an article that the average career to college degree ratio for payoff is 30 years
so you'll spend 30 years paying off the education you purchased to get into your career
but its been awhile since I looked at those stats
but yeah I've been seeing discussions amongst economists that we shouldn't even be using unemployment as a factor to judge the health of an economy, mostly because its so often used as the ONLY factor so its extremely misleading
the same has been said for the health of the stock market, which is an indicator for the health of corporations but not the health of the living economy
yeah I don't know what a solution is
I'll be interested in seeing ideas though
I know its super unpopular in some circles, but I think that the idea of Basic Income could be hugely beneficial
I forgot what its buzzword is right now...
Universal Basic Income
really? thats how I met my girlfriend
I walked up and asked her about the book she was reading
different strokes I guess
Cascadia
The Pacific Northwest
according to the Circumcision documentary it was doctors in the UK that began advocating circumcision as a means to prevent mastrubation in the 1900s
and it migrated to the US and has remained every since, over the yeras its slowly evolved from one proclaimed health benefit to another, without any actual studies being done
its all in that documentary on Netflix
yeah I was charged $80 for speaking with my lawyer's secretary for 30 seconds
fuck lawyers
preparing for a massive snowstorm going to hit my area over the weekend
yourself?
depending how it plays out, if the conditions are right it might not really affect much, but if the conditions roll out badly the roads could be entirely unusable
thats rough
I called the secretary about being confused because my paperwork kept referring to a document that I was supposed to have but didn't, however I realized during the conversation with her that the document didn't exist because of other reasons
apparently that was taken as an inquiry into the paperwork
even though she technically didn't help, but even speaking with her about the subject automatically billed me
and they only bill by the hour, so the second she picked up the phone I was charged for the full hour, no matter how long the conversation took
basically beauracracy
no its $80 an hour ๐ they just change for a full hour no matter how much of that hour you use
like if I use 10 minutes they charge 1 hour
its like phone minutes
if you use 10 seconds it counts as 1 minute
but yeah lawyering is a racket
I think it should be noted that any man stripping naked for a cause would be shunned and humiliated
because female nakedness is valued and male nakedness is shameful
technically to be legally allowed to charge people you need to go to lawschool
which is also a racket
we should start a male exclusive university though
been thinking about that awhile now actually... since boys are so left behind and persecuted in higher education right now
you mean like that app that removes make-up
its actually a super depressing story
the app became famous on the internet because it was a joke about 'revealing girls for how they really look'
it got super horrible feminist backlash
that called the app sexist
and the eventual negative publicity caused the company that created the app to go under
however, the application was actually designed to combat human sex trafficing
because applying heavy make-up is a way traffickers use to get underage girls past customs or law enforcement
and the app was designed to make facial recognition of kidnapped girls easier
it was the internet that found the much unused app (which was available for free) and then turned it into a meme
the company tried to defend themselves but the feminists were too enraged to listen and the company, and the app, were driven under
sounds like a bully had an awesome morning
sounds like the grounds for million dollar lawsuit
there ya hgo
spreading information is never for nothing, I had not heard most of that before
well reddit is selling to a Chinese corporation... anything could happen as far as changes go
fighting fire with fire just gets everyone burned
the toxicity and hatred of the feminist movement is exactly what is going to destroy it, it is what is fracturing and dividing it now
