Here in southern europe we have a social culture of going out

it is linked with better weather

yes, our customs of being closer and having more time outside has contributed (here in Spain and Italy) to a higher spreading

also, Spain and Italy have a really high elderly population

and it is usually centered on the countryside

in italy it spread from village to village, in spain it is mainly on Madrid and Barcelona

Also, there is some peculiar info about the virus

there is an increase in people who report partial or complete loss of olfatory capacity (i don't know how to say it in english, but its the lack of ability to smell)

this loss of taste and smell is not accompained with congestion (mucose in respiratory tracts, as usually happens with the common flu)

they reccomend to quarantine people with these symptom as they may be carriers

people with this symptom doesn't usually present any other severe symptoms and may be the population that is almost asyntomatic.

Now, to give an example, myself, a few days ago i completely lost taste and smell, i could eat or smell the grosest shit and not even batch an eye.
