i'm really hoping and praying that time splitters makes a comeback, i've hear recently there's a studio that required the rights to make a game with the ip.

new fps games rely too much on dumb gimmicks instead of tight gameplay

yeah, first year and a half of its release it wasn't great, but they've actually invested in the game and it's a lot of fun. i've purchased it on two platforms, going to buy it again when it comes out on the switch.

yeah, it's not great and that's what kills me. a lot of people don't know that 40k is the reason why we have starcraft, aliens, and a load of other sci-fi and games.

valkyria chronicles may be more your speed because it has tactics and fps elements in it, as well as other pretty fun mechanics.
