I guess I know I should move out.

2018-09-14 22:10:32 UTC

Do you think the $10-12k/year I'd spend in housing is a reasonable cost if I make $65-70k? I feel so bad spending that much on housing.

2018-09-14 22:11:41 UTC

The most legitimate issue I have with them is not having ANY room in the fridge. I am going to have to buy a mini-fridge because the fridge has 3 packs of bud light and other nonsense.

2018-09-14 22:15:59 UTC

write it out man, the advantages to maintaining that living situation vs. the disadvantages.

2018-09-14 22:16:17 UTC

if you're not happy where you live, that's really going to put a damper on how much you're able to enjoy life.

2018-09-14 22:17:03 UTC

honestly, i would consider saving up for a down payment on a house, if the market where you live is able to do that, and buy your own house.

2018-09-14 22:18:35 UTC

Well, I plan on leaving in 2020 but that was my exact thought.

2018-09-14 22:18:56 UTC

If I move out in December/January... I can enjoy living alone before moving to a new place for a better job,

2018-09-14 22:19:22 UTC

Plus, I have a lot of extra work I am putting in while at home so that alone makes investing in my housing worthwhile so I think you're right.

2018-09-14 22:19:29 UTC

I need a quiet place to focus on my craft.

2018-09-14 22:19:36 UTC

^

2018-09-14 22:19:43 UTC

When I feel like hanging out, I can leave or invite people over to cook them a meal.

2018-09-14 22:20:02 UTC

The issue is I KNOW I want to move out but I can't seem to justify the cost. I've never spent so much money before...

2018-09-14 22:20:08 UTC

I make GOOD money but I've invested it all.

2018-09-14 22:20:19 UTC

your peace of mind and happiness is WORTH it.

2018-09-14 22:20:21 UTC

I look at every dollar I spend as an investment so this kills me, lol.

2018-09-14 22:20:39 UTC

have you ever had health complications from stress? because if you stay where you're at, that's where you're heading.

2018-09-14 22:20:49 UTC

Yeah, that's possible.

2018-09-14 22:21:09 UTC

I will do a legitimate cost benefit analysis and remove my emotion of not wanting to spend money from it.

2018-09-14 22:21:16 UTC

I know already it will be better to leave haha

2018-09-14 22:21:42 UTC

that and there's a certain satisfaction that comes from just doing maintenance on YOUR home.

2018-09-14 22:21:57 UTC

and having full control over it.

2018-09-14 22:56:17 UTC

@machtyn how much of a cheapsake you are?

2018-09-14 23:20:12 UTC

@Flushtater Buying a trailer would be similar to a house and not really worth it. I rather invest that money than save for a downpayment or outright buy one since I leave this state in 2020. I plan on selling all my things basically and leaving.

2018-09-14 23:21:08 UTC

you can tough it out for that amount of time @machtyn

2018-09-14 23:21:25 UTC

@Kazemaru I don't *think* I am a cheapskate but I really don't want to spend $10-13k/year on housing since I am currently spending $5k/year on it. BUT... I do like the idea of just living alone for that year.

2018-09-14 23:21:51 UTC

@Flushtater Yeah, that's what I am thinking. I got one of my roommates to possibly agree to a mini fridge for their fucking beer, lol.

2018-09-14 23:22:17 UTC

I'll help pay for some of it if they stop using the main fridge for their take out (that they never ever finish) and alcohol.

2018-09-14 23:22:21 UTC

or you buy a lovely fridge for your future home

2018-09-14 23:22:32 UTC

Well, yeah when I move I will 😄

2018-09-14 23:23:43 UTC

If I tough it out - should I just buy a nice $200+ noise cancelling pair of headphones? Honestly it's not THAT bad but TV is always on and always on loud because 2 women live here and "its for my pets" is their logic.

2018-09-14 23:23:46 UTC

big fridge uses comparable amount of electricity as a small one, but if you are going to move. . . future wine chiller? 😄

2018-09-14 23:24:21 UTC

I really wish I could get into alcohol. It's just not my thing. I think my "vice" is going to be grass-fed beef, wild salmon and good veggies.

2018-09-14 23:24:27 UTC

use white noise on youtube

2018-09-14 23:24:45 UTC

it will scramble the tv audio and it's relaxing

2018-09-14 23:24:56 UTC

Well, I am studying and programming most of the time. When I am chilling and playing games I don't care if its loud. It is only when I need to focus.

2018-09-14 23:25:05 UTC

cat trumpet YT channel celestial white noise

2018-09-14 23:25:08 UTC

I do play some techno in the background 😉

2018-09-14 23:25:14 UTC

lol

2018-09-14 23:25:40 UTC
