@Deleted User The Israelites descended from Shem

2018-10-12 12:40:41 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

@Daniil There is a difference as Japheth was a son of Noah, and thus survived the flood

2018-10-12 12:41:43 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Europeans from Japheth, Israelites from Shem and Africans from Ham

2018-10-12 12:42:14 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

But at this point in history, the lines are too messy to make any significant statement

2018-10-12 12:43:15 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

And the Adamites were actually a 2nd century sect of Christianity in North Africa

2018-10-12 12:44:37 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

@Deleted User Why do you have a Heathen tag to begin with?

2018-10-12 12:48:03 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Ethnic Jews, yes

2018-10-12 12:51:35 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Just searching for a reason to justify themselves

2018-10-12 12:51:55 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Or they don't understand the Jewish way of tracing lineage

2018-10-12 12:52:39 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

If you look at the Hebrew way of tracing lineage, it's done through the mother rather than the father

2018-10-12 12:53:03 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Interestingly enough, David's grandmother wasn't a Israelite herself

2018-10-12 12:54:51 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

A lot of Jewish rabbi that I've spoken with don't deny Jesus as the messiah, they're just waiting for his return

2018-10-12 12:55:16 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Ha

2018-10-12 12:56:28 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Because of the renouncement of the Mosaic law

2018-10-12 12:58:50 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

There's a sect of Judaism called the Messianic that believe Jesus was who He said He was, and that He died for our sins and rose again. Tell me, does that still make them Christians?

2018-10-12 13:02:12 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The Israelites were the people of the covenant to who Yahweh revealed Himself to. We now have a new covenant in Christ, and so anyone who believes in who Christ is, what He did, and tries daily to follow Him can call themselves Christians

2018-10-12 13:02:47 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

So yes, some Jews can be considered pagans, but they still worship Yahweh, and have ignored the truth of Christ

2018-10-12 13:03:29 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

But that doesn't make their religion false, it's just an outline of the new covenant

2018-10-12 13:03:36 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

A shadow, if you will

2018-10-12 13:06:30 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

I consider the Messianic's to still be Christian, it's just they believed the renouncement of the Mosaic laws to be only for the Gentiles

2018-10-12 13:10:46 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Jewish law demands blood as payment of sin, hence the sacrifices of sheep and goats. Worship alone was not enough to satisfy. With the new covenant, Christ paid the price through His crucifixion. Jews have the option of believing He was the Messiah, or to continue their old ways

2018-10-12 13:13:18 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

We experience time sequentially, and so we can choose the next steps from our current points

2018-10-12 13:15:05 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Oh man, don't even get me started on that

2018-10-12 13:18:20 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

No

2018-10-12 13:18:25 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

There is a new covenant

2018-10-12 13:19:31 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

@Korkza From my understanding, it was introduced as a way to normalise the Roman public (who were used to polytheism) to the idea of Christianity by introducing 'saint worship' into it. I might be wrong there, if someone wants to correct me, but that's what I've gathered from research

2018-10-12 13:22:57 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The Eastern Orthodox and Coptic's don't teach it, and they're pretty much theologically unchanged since Paul preached to them

2018-10-12 13:24:18 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The sacrifice has been paid, no more blood is required

2018-10-12 13:26:55 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Hebrews 10:5-18

2018-10-12 13:29:33 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

@Korkza I can't find any Biblical basis for saint mediation for prayer

2018-10-12 13:29:54 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

Jesus is the only mediator mentioned in the NT

2018-10-12 13:36:06 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The prayers of the saints is referencing the prayers of all believers in Christ

2018-10-12 13:38:04 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The original term saint meant a believer in Christ, not the current view that is currently held

Anyone can intercede for anyone

2018-10-12 13:40:14 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

The problem is the elevated position that the current Catholic system gives to those deemed 'saints' by their definition

2018-10-12 13:41:36 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

They were people, as much as we are people. The only thing giving them authority was Jesus Christ and not their own merits

2018-10-12 13:44:47 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

I wouldn't say they're wrong, there's still genuine Christians in Catholicism. Just from my point of view, the theology is flawed and unbiblical

2018-10-12 13:45:46 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

@Mozalbete โณฉ The Bible instructs for us to confess our sins to *each other*, my issue with Eucharist is the ritual it's become

2018-10-12 13:49:57 UTC [Legio Christi Hangout #general]

In the early church, many congregants would confess their sins in front of the church
