2018-01-23 06:05:20 UTC

what crisis did you get?

2018-01-23 06:05:59 UTC

contingency

2018-01-23 06:06:11 UTC

I'm playin a new empire now though, I'll resume that save later

2018-01-23 06:06:28 UTC

only like 2 years into this one lol

2018-01-23 06:10:46 UTC

@nic have you ever played as xenophile?

2018-01-23 06:10:59 UTC

yeah, a few times

2018-01-23 06:11:12 UTC

this run is a xenophile run

2018-01-23 06:11:33 UTC

xenophile militarists?

2018-01-23 06:12:16 UTC

I'm Xenophile Spiritualist Egalitarian for this run

2018-01-23 06:13:06 UTC

sounds extra gay

2018-01-23 06:13:24 UTC

if you were pacisfist, that's how it could even more gay

2018-01-23 13:46:42 UTC

ok I have to share this

2018-01-23 13:46:44 UTC

this was just insane

2018-01-23 13:47:02 UTC

@Deleted User this run got intense very quickly

2018-01-23 13:47:27 UTC

copy pasting what I sent to mate a few minutes ago

2018-01-23 13:47:30 UTC

I just fought the single most intense battle I have ever fought and probably will ever fight in Stellaris
so the Stellarite Devourer was near me from the start of the game, about 8ish jumps away from my capital
no biggie, aside from the FIghter and Bomber Corps and a few stray construction and science ships commiting suicide every now and again
so I'm talking to the curators, even though I'm in a war, I haven't had a fight yet because we're on opposite sides of the galaxy, I've been building up my fleet and I'm sitting at about 700 fleet size (about 200 ships I want to say?) with 60k-ish in fleet strength, and the curators go "yeah you can probably bust her up a bit righto mate" and I think to myself, jeez, can't go that badly, let's get me admiral some experience
so I jump my fleet in, and we're doing damage get about 1/6th of it's health down before I decide the fleet isn't going to last much longer, so I pull it out
fleet limps back to one of my colonies, one jump away from my capital. I tell it to get back to the capital, because that's where I was churning out PD destroyers at the time and it'd be easier to merge the fleet there.
and thank god I told it to get back to the capital
because little did I know
the Stellarite Devourer can get angry
and leave the system it spawned in
and lucky me, 5 days after jumping my fleet back into my home system, gets this message
"a Hostile Stellarite Devourer Fleet is heading towards the Lagragaan System!"

2018-01-23 13:47:38 UTC

so
I'm *fucked*
and I mean fucked
my fleet when it was 60k-ish did 1/6th of it's health, and that fleet is now crippled and with 38k power (and only 94 ships)
so
the fight is on
the survival of my empire is on the line
my admiral (who is now a 4 star admiral after the previous engagement) is apparently bloodlusted and wants revenge too, so as soon as the Stellarite Devourer pops into the system he's already on a war path
and then it happens
my saviour
the AI empire I was at war with, jumps into my home system, behind the Stellarite Devourer
their fleet is only 15k, but it's in close quarters, and is made up almost entirely out of destroyers and corvettes, so the humbers game is on their side
so my fleet now has a chance. we're no longer being picked at by long distance as much, we can get into the engagement zone and turn all our strike craft and turbolasers on that thing
and then I had a brainwave
I remembered that I had been commisioning several Venator class Star Destroyers from other planets, who didn't have a fleet to rally to when my fleet was MIA
so I pause the game, and tell 8 Venators to haul ass to the Lagragaan System
I also had a small fleet of Assault Frigate MKI Dreadnoughts (Dreadnought Cruisers that were retrofitted with Nebulon-B parts, they look freakin amazing, better than the Assault Frigate MKII) that were waiting for orders, so I told 14 Assault Dreadnoughts to get over there ASAP
factoring those in, I had another 10k-ish to play with, mostly from the 8 Venators

2018-01-23 13:47:49 UTC

it's still looking bad
the Stellarite Devourer has lost about 1/5th health when the fucking Lokken Mechanists (empire that a friend created, was fortunate enough to find in this single player game) jump in with a 20k fleet, and they're not even in the war with me, they just have sensor data. which means that they saw this thing about to ravage my home system and thought "can't be having that, they've got better tech than I do, and they give me research grants" and got their fleet over there to help
at this point the battle has been waging for 2 months
during that time, a fresh wave of Venators had rolled off the line at my 12 spaceports, and I'm dead broke
they slowly trickle into the system and either engage the Stellarite Devourer head on because it's where they jumped in from, or join the main fleet and bombard from a relatively safe distance
after the most nerve racking 3 months I've ever had in Stellaris, the thing finally dies
and now, the remnants of the Robot Empire's fleet engages what's left of mine
because having a break is for chumps
I come out on top, barely, thanks to my spaceport chipping in when they got into range (my fleet was still near the centre of the system, the Stellarite Devourer was about halfway to it when it died)
it took me over half an hour to fight that engagement

2018-01-23 13:47:55 UTC

I've never been so terrified in my life lmao

2018-01-23 13:48:06 UTC

and to add onto that, it was only the year 2238

2018-01-23 14:47:42 UTC

Jesus fuck @nic

2018-01-23 14:47:57 UTC

Sounds extremely clutch

2018-01-23 15:02:45 UTC

It was
I was sweatin man

2018-01-23 15:08:17 UTC

I didn't know the devourer could actually come after you, but I never really engaged it that early

2018-01-23 15:09:22 UTC

I didn't know either, lucky me

2018-01-23 15:10:28 UTC

But yeah, I was fucked if I didn't luck out by two empires interfering with the battle

2018-01-23 15:13:21 UTC

it's like in EU4, where you can lure in your allies to clear up your rebels, if you give them military access

2018-01-23 15:13:37 UTC

have them waste their manpower

2018-01-23 15:13:43 UTC

instead of your own

2018-01-23 15:17:43 UTC

Kind of, but not really, because unfortunately the Stellaris AI isn't as interactive as I'd like it to be.
I was just really lucky that the Lokken had sensor data and chose to act

2018-01-23 15:18:25 UTC

I think the next time I load up my game in going to send them a hefty sum of energy credits and minerals for their trouble

2018-01-23 15:18:46 UTC

@nic what mod were you playing with?

2018-01-23 15:18:53 UTC

To get venators

2018-01-23 15:22:22 UTC

I was using the Rebel Alliance ship pack for this one

2018-01-23 15:22:42 UTC

I normally use the Imperial ship pack, but changed it up for this run

2018-01-23 15:22:51 UTC

And I still got Venators <3

2018-01-23 15:23:03 UTC

I love that ship, and apparently I cannot get away from it

2018-01-23 15:27:10 UTC

Just
So goddamn sexy

2018-01-23 15:27:25 UTC

Get you a girl like this tbh

2018-01-23 15:32:45 UTC

Venator is best ship

2018-01-23 15:51:16 UTC

I see you are a man of culture as well

2018-01-23 15:54:07 UTC

Battlecarrier is best ship type

2018-01-23 15:57:31 UTC

Indeed

2018-01-23 16:01:58 UTC

@nic is there a republic ship pack?

2018-01-23 16:06:10 UTC

So anyways
Am down for multiplayer of... something.. if anyone is interested (and we have the same game)

2018-01-23 16:06:36 UTC

I have Squad, but haven't tried it

2018-01-23 16:06:53 UTC

Interstellar Marines isn't too bad, but pretty much dead. PvE multi is still fun though

2018-01-23 16:07:48 UTC

Still haven't played 7 Days to Die since the newest major update dropped several months ago

2018-01-23 16:08:13 UTC

oh yeah, Space Hulk Deathwing. Would still like to try that out in a squad

2018-01-23 16:18:15 UTC

@Deleted User not that I'm aware of unfortunately

2018-01-23 16:18:27 UTC

The Empire ship pack has many republic ships however

2018-01-23 16:18:38 UTC

Such as the Venator and the Arquitens

2018-01-23 16:18:49 UTC

And the Acclamator

2018-01-23 16:20:41 UTC

cool

2018-01-23 16:21:07 UTC

too bad I'm going to wait a long while before playing stellaris 2.0

2018-01-23 16:21:21 UTC

cuz I need my mods

2018-01-24 00:28:20 UTC

lul, won a game of throne of lies as cult leader, and only got off 1 convert. Luckily he was a god at the game, and convinced the goody-goodies to hang eachother.

2018-01-24 11:48:15 UTC

Gonna give it a bash, feel free to join me. It's free, so let's see how we go

2018-01-24 12:16:34 UTC

@Deleted User re: shooting at ground targets - are you using convergence on your guns?

2018-01-24 13:01:51 UTC

Isnโ€™t that the distance at which the bullets come to one point?

2018-01-24 13:10:46 UTC

that is indeed correct

2018-01-24 13:11:17 UTC

one could even say that the bullets..

2018-01-24 13:11:17 UTC

..

2018-01-24 13:11:19 UTC

..converge.

2018-01-24 13:37:20 UTC

@Reaps holy shit thanks reaps, it was convergence that was the problem

2018-01-24 13:40:29 UTC

heh.

2018-01-24 13:40:33 UTC

what were you flying?

2018-01-24 13:41:15 UTC

p-36s and I couldn't hit ground targets for shit

2018-01-24 13:41:17 UTC

I usually use dedicated ground attack aircraft, which means I can set the convergence to zero (no convergence) because the armament is centreline instead of wing-mounted

2018-01-24 13:41:36 UTC

yeah, P-36 is something like 4 .50s or .30s in the wings or something

2018-01-24 13:41:39 UTC

maybe two on the nose

2018-01-24 15:34:12 UTC

@Jek Porkins Deathwing sometime?

2018-01-24 15:38:27 UTC

yeh yeh

2018-01-24 15:39:01 UTC
2018-01-24 15:54:18 UTC

@Reaps how is space?

2018-01-24 15:56:34 UTC

hm, now that Tomb Kings DLC is released, I no longer have any excuse no to get Total War: Warhammer 2

2018-01-24 15:57:53 UTC

Arkhan the Black โค

2018-01-24 16:11:40 UTC

Iโ€™m still gonna wait till the next sale, but Iโ€™ll definitely get it.

2018-01-24 16:16:22 UTC

Yeah, it's still a bit expensive for my taste

2018-01-24 16:16:56 UTC

Tomb Kings are my favorite faction, though I also like the Vampire Counts from the first game. I'd like to have the Mortal Empires campaign also.

2018-01-24 16:20:38 UTC

I also wanna make sure I can get Three Kingdoms

2018-01-24 16:20:57 UTC

the new one set in China? Yeah, me too

2018-01-24 16:21:32 UTC

not too bad; just missing server population

2018-01-24 16:21:37 UTC

the hero system from the warhammer games have been something I've always wanted more of, in Total War

2018-01-24 16:22:17 UTC

though probably not to the epic extent of the powered up warhammer legendary lords

2018-01-24 16:22:24 UTC

M2 is best TW

2018-01-24 16:22:37 UTC

it's great yeah

2018-01-24 16:22:42 UTC

RTW boi

2018-01-24 16:22:49 UTC

I've probably played Shogun 1+2 more, though

2018-01-24 16:23:07 UTC

even "wasted" money getting the collector's edition of #2

2018-01-24 16:23:43 UTC

@meratrix wrong

2018-01-24 16:23:45 UTC

RTW is best TW

2018-01-24 16:23:47 UTC

medieval 1 because of the danes being playable, too

2018-01-24 16:23:52 UTC

M2 da best

2018-01-24 16:24:55 UTC

I like features that M2 added, but I still prefer the units and factions from RTW, which for me is more important.

2018-01-24 16:24:59 UTC

Can you stab the muzzie in Rome?
Thatโ€™s what I thought

2018-01-24 16:25:47 UTC

can you even kill the christians?

2018-01-24 16:26:26 UTC

been too long since I played, but I suppose most of it is in the republic era
