what are yalls opinions on this? I support reopening of the beach but at the same time it seems like the locals support the closure as its helping keep them safe from the virus... ?

Fear is a powerful motivato and most of our smaller communities are very prone to fear, but the closures aren't protecting anything and are likely more detrimental to community health. The economies of those areas really on tourism and without it we are going to have a lot of unforseen employment problems in the near future

I agree with the fear part and I know those businesses rely on tourism. but the business owners to my understanding dont support the protest either... as for closures not protecting anything I think thats a bit far fetched.. people in clsoe proxximity increases cahcnes of spreading the virus so closures do help in that sense. (not necessarily supporting the closures)

The beach people would know more than anyone how much they need the tourism if they really needed it, come June I'm sure they will want it. They are surprisingly self reliant and close knit and shouldn't be pushed

Yes there is people in seaside talking shit and wanting to counter protest . For the lady with proud boys and such her associates from school were SOME shady people from the backwoods of Oregon city and Redland not that she still keeps contact years after butttt

im on the fence about this whole thing personally, if the seaside residents were protesting, out there saying they wanted to open their stores and that they need the beach open for tourist income and such then %100 id be there

My whole thing is just protecting someone's right to protest. But at the same time I dont want to be involved with any questionable groups.
