2018-10-16 06:08:18 UTC

vacuum is basically nothing

2018-10-16 06:08:21 UTC

yep

2018-10-16 06:08:36 UTC

a rocket, generating its own thrust, would fly in the vacuum

2018-10-16 06:08:54 UTC

don't think so

2018-10-16 06:09:07 UTC

thrust needs something to push off of

2018-10-16 06:09:09 UTC

here, tell me how rockets work

2018-10-16 06:09:19 UTC

what they do to generate thrust

2018-10-16 06:09:42 UTC

they are propelling gas out the back end to push it forward

2018-10-16 06:09:50 UTC

thats all you need to say

2018-10-16 06:09:51 UTC

in an atmosphere they have something to push off of

2018-10-16 06:09:59 UTC

and something to push into

2018-10-16 06:10:06 UTC

which slows down the rocket

2018-10-16 06:10:15 UTC

in a vacuum they have nothing to push off of

2018-10-16 06:10:18 UTC

rocket won't move

2018-10-16 06:10:21 UTC

and nothing to push into

2018-10-16 06:10:34 UTC

you have a guy with a master's degree in technical physics

2018-10-16 06:10:42 UTC

telling you it won't move

2018-10-16 06:10:50 UTC

lol

2018-10-16 06:10:52 UTC

did you watch the videos I linked?

2018-10-16 06:10:52 UTC

i saw your example already

2018-10-16 06:10:59 UTC

i did for a bit

2018-10-16 06:11:18 UTC

one guy with a MSc > 100% of rocket physicists

2018-10-16 06:11:23 UTC

just showed a disturbing portrait of a man

2018-10-16 06:11:45 UTC

this guy has a master's degree in technical physics

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/484514023698726912/501638362004979722/unknown.png

2018-10-16 06:11:52 UTC

let me see

2018-10-16 06:11:57 UTC

he's telling you it has nothign to push off of, it won't work

2018-10-16 06:12:03 UTC

and hes wrong

2018-10-16 06:12:16 UTC

because he apparently doesnt understand rockets

2018-10-16 06:12:45 UTC

well, the link is up above

2018-10-16 06:13:22 UTC

lets read newtons third law by quote shall we?

2018-10-16 06:13:47 UTC

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

2018-10-16 06:13:47 UTC

maybe we should watch this video and see if he address it

2018-10-16 06:13:56 UTC

goopy

2018-10-16 06:14:00 UTC

srry

2018-10-16 06:14:10 UTC

so if I flap my arms in a vacuum, am I going anywhere?

2018-10-16 06:14:14 UTC

nope

2018-10-16 06:14:24 UTC

no medium to propel you up

2018-10-16 06:14:44 UTC

if I take an oxygen tank in a vacuum and start releasing gas, am I going to move anywhere?

2018-10-16 06:15:27 UTC

if you let the gas out at a very fast speed and a very high pressure, you're going to fall backwards from the force of the gas ejecting out the tank

2018-10-16 06:15:42 UTC

if you let it drizzle out nope

2018-10-16 06:16:43 UTC

nope, won't matter

2018-10-16 06:17:01 UTC

have you tried it yourself or are you just saying so

2018-10-16 06:17:30 UTC

you might get thrust but I don't think so, not significant amount

2018-10-16 06:18:04 UTC

depending on how fast the oxygen comes out ya you might not get much, but you still get it

2018-10-16 06:18:06 UTC

on the plus side any thrust would be better in a vacuum though

2018-10-16 06:18:16 UTC

yes it would

2018-10-16 06:18:24 UTC

because you don't need alot of thrust to move, unlike atmosphere

2018-10-16 06:18:39 UTC

no air resistance

2018-10-16 06:18:41 UTC

indeed

2018-10-16 06:20:06 UTC

you still have the problem of pushing the amount of mass foward

2018-10-16 06:20:25 UTC

in a vacuum with no air resistance would make it easier

2018-10-16 06:20:35 UTC

true

2018-10-16 06:20:43 UTC

but the rocket has to get there first

2018-10-16 06:20:56 UTC

so it trudges on through the atmosphere

2018-10-16 06:21:15 UTC

still amount of mass matters because it limits how much thrust you need to generate to move the entire mass, and stop it

2018-10-16 06:21:34 UTC

the more mass the more thrust

2018-10-16 06:21:38 UTC

suffice it to say that although it might function some, it wouldn't work enough to land on the moon and take off again, land back on earth

2018-10-16 06:21:59 UTC

let me find a fun fact real quick

2018-10-16 06:22:32 UTC

the more mass means the more thrust you need to move it

2018-10-16 06:22:35 UTC

even in a vacuum

2018-10-16 06:22:36 UTC

All Apollo missions carried and used around 5,625,000 pounds of propellant in all three modules and the Saturn V launch vehicle. This is for the whole trip, with the greatest amounts being used in the first minutes [to achieve orbital velocity] by the Saturn V rocket.

2018-10-16 06:22:50 UTC

*thats a lot of propellant*

2018-10-16 06:23:42 UTC

you don't just have to propel the rocket, you also have to propel all that propellant itself

2018-10-16 06:23:47 UTC

keep in mind i dont believe in space like the globe earth model says it is or that we went to the moon, im just saying if we were in the ge model it would be possible

2018-10-16 06:23:59 UTC

the more you take the less opitmal it is

2018-10-16 06:24:18 UTC

you heard about them losing all their trajectory records?

2018-10-16 06:24:26 UTC

let me find how heavy the rocket is

2018-10-16 06:24:44 UTC

3,039,000kg

2018-10-16 06:24:49 UTC

sounds like fiction to me, 5 million lbs of propellant

2018-10-16 06:24:58 UTC

yea, I don't beleive that

2018-10-16 06:25:20 UTC

you know NASA is one of the biggest userse of helium

2018-10-16 06:25:40 UTC

they put helium in all their sattelites, they are just big high tech balloons

2018-10-16 06:25:42 UTC

helium is a great way to eject materials out faster and is used in rockets yes

2018-10-16 06:25:53 UTC

cause outer space is a lie and a false myth

2018-10-16 06:26:12 UTC

i wouldn't put it that harshly but ya

2018-10-16 06:26:48 UTC

well, do you really think we landed on the moon on flat earth?

2018-10-16 06:27:00 UTC

but can we agree if the rocket had over 5.6m pounds of fuel and weighed that much it could reach the said escape velocity?

2018-10-16 06:27:03 UTC

nope

2018-10-16 06:27:19 UTC

but if the ge model were true id say yes

2018-10-16 06:27:37 UTC

no, I don't believe they had that much

2018-10-16 06:27:57 UTC

do you think it could though if they did have that much?

2018-10-16 06:27:58 UTC

what they had was enough fuel to crash the rocket into the ocean and pretend to land on the moon on a movie set

2018-10-16 06:28:15 UTC

i think that too

2018-10-16 06:28:44 UTC

but im just asking if you think it would have been possible if they did have the fuel

2018-10-16 06:28:46 UTC

since outer space is completely fake I don't think they really understand how rockets would work in that environment

2018-10-16 06:28:58 UTC

I don't think it works the way they say it would

2018-10-16 06:28:59 UTC

we do have that giant vacuum chamber

2018-10-16 06:29:18 UTC

you know we put someone in a vacuum and they passed out in 1965

2018-10-16 06:29:28 UTC

we don't even do that anymore

2018-10-16 06:29:51 UTC

they practice in a swimming pool because that is where the international swimming pool does all its swim walks

2018-10-16 06:29:56 UTC

well duh they had no oxygen to breath lol

2018-10-16 06:30:01 UTC

ya

2018-10-16 06:30:33 UTC

the guy who passed out was in a space suit that didn't work well

2018-10-16 06:30:33 UTC

well i think if the did have that much fuel they could get to their said moon if it existed

2018-10-16 06:30:44 UTC

cool

2018-10-16 06:31:11 UTC

i think thats when they improved the decal of the suits lol

2018-10-16 06:31:34 UTC

good talk kevin

2018-10-16 06:36:00 UTC

so it was an accident rather than a suit malfunction

2018-10-16 06:36:01 UTC

huh

2018-10-16 06:37:02 UTC

I am not enirely cetain what happened but we don't put people in vacuum's anymore

2018-10-16 06:37:38 UTC

indeed

2018-10-16 06:37:39 UTC

too dangerous and its not like they are going to space and need to practice for that envirnment

2018-10-16 06:37:56 UTC

true

2018-10-16 06:38:12 UTC

do you believe in gravity?

2018-10-16 06:40:04 UTC

gravity is fake

2018-10-16 18:28:26 UTC

2018-10-16 18:29:51 UTC

rockets don't work in a vacuum

2018-10-16 18:55:23 UTC

Then how would jets fly high up

2018-10-16 18:55:37 UTC

doesnt the air get more like a vacuum the higher you go

2018-10-16 18:55:46 UTC

some jets fly very high

2018-10-16 19:05:38 UTC

airlinners typically fly at 30,000 feet

2018-10-16 19:06:05 UTC

there are aircrat that can fly higher, but they have to fly faster to get lift

2018-10-16 19:13:42 UTC

i mean like military jets

2018-10-16 19:13:45 UTC

yeah

2018-10-16 19:14:05 UTC

if a rocket couldnt work in a vacuum wouldnt the jets not work

2018-10-16 19:19:22 UTC

Jet engines require a medium to run, dont they?

2018-10-16 19:20:16 UTC

There is a key difference between a rocket and a jet. A rocket doesn't use lift to fly. So an airplane can't work in a vacuum since nothing to push the wings up. A rocket ejects super heated gas backwards, which then push it forward

2018-10-16 19:23:23 UTC

Also, while not extremely important. A jet engine uses oxygen from the air, while rockets have their own oxygen internally

2018-10-16 19:35:49 UTC

That last part is key. Rockets bring their own oxygen, while airplanes get it from the air they move through.

2018-10-16 19:39:38 UTC

that is just fuel of the engines, not how they propel things through the air/stay up

2018-10-16 19:40:17 UTC

Rockets use pure thrust

2018-10-16 19:40:45 UTC

yes, and jets use the differnce of air pressure under and over the wing to stay up

2018-10-16 19:40:53 UTC

Yes

2018-10-16 19:42:35 UTC

my point, rockets use thrust, while jets use difference in air pressure. thus you can say just because a jet doesnt work in a vacuum doesnt mean a rocket works in a vacuum

2018-10-16 20:01:58 UTC

Oh thats not what I'm saying

2018-10-16 20:02:17 UTC

I was thinking that a jet would work in a vacuum

2018-10-16 20:02:23 UTC

but i guess not?

2018-10-16 20:02:26 UTC

Idk

2018-10-16 20:05:18 UTC

Eventually it would not have enough oxygen for injection so no

2018-10-16 20:33:19 UTC

some very basics behind each

2018-10-16 21:19:09 UTC

Sorry I was referring to a jet engine, not the whole jet.

2018-10-16 23:47:37 UTC

just not enough stuff to push off of in a vacuum

2018-10-16 23:48:03 UTC

rockets basically don't work in a vacuum

2018-10-16 23:48:08 UTC

Why not there's nothing that stopping it

2018-10-16 23:48:28 UTC

rockets use atmosphere to push off of

2018-10-16 23:48:33 UTC

No

2018-10-16 23:48:36 UTC

They don't

2018-10-16 23:48:41 UTC

throwing gas into nothingness does nothing

2018-10-16 23:48:42 UTC

Propellers use that

2018-10-16 23:48:59 UTC

Rocket's are different from propellers

2018-10-16 23:49:14 UTC

There's a difference between thrust and lift

2018-10-16 23:49:26 UTC

rockets use propellent in the form of gas thrown out the back end to move forward

2018-10-16 23:49:35 UTC

ignited gas

2018-10-16 23:49:54 UTC

this prepellent needs an atmosphere to work to push off of something

2018-10-16 23:50:07 UTC

otherwise its got no thrust

2018-10-16 23:50:07 UTC

There's liquid and solid fuel as well

2018-10-16 23:50:16 UTC

doesn't matter what type of fuel it is

2018-10-16 23:50:38 UTC

its still propellant that propels the ship forward, and works well in an atmosphere

2018-10-16 23:50:41 UTC

we can see it working

2018-10-16 23:50:43 UTC

The amount of thrust can differ based on fuel

2018-10-16 23:50:45 UTC

in a vacuum, not so much

2018-10-16 23:51:08 UTC

similiar to a feather that doesn't move at all in a vacuum with a fan blowing on it

2018-10-16 23:51:11 UTC

not one little bit

2018-10-16 23:51:20 UTC

a rocket wouldn't move in a vacuum
