I heard about that
on the first year of /biz/, there was actual rich people there giving advice about stocks, investments, starting a business, etc
now it's just crypto shilling and nothing else
There are two degenerative trends on image boards and one fatal flaw
speaking of crypto shilling, where is our resident crypto shill?
dont derail this
we already derailed enough by talking about 4chan ๐
One is "people don't understand the filter is not sincere". See: "/v/ hates games"
Two is getting overrun
The fatal flaw is getting 1984'd by mods in an attempt to prevent this
The only way to keep post quality is to be nomadic and obscure
>The only way to keep post quality is to be nomadic and obscure
this
so much
it hurts
but that's the thing, you can have a big community, but it still needs to be "kinda" niche
I kinda can't help but see image boards as a kind of social microcosm either
Wherein it seems like the normal methods of growth and stagnation lead to an overabundance of people who are not terribly interested in the original key principles, or contributing to larger works
This is also, going back to imageboards, probably why /tg/ is one of the more productive boards
I hate that article
What the hell do they mean by muggles?
imo that article is shit
and they give names to shit that make nosense
that article is really bad to explain 4chan boards for example
it fits for fashion and music groups though
fighting entropy is a losing battle
and technology constantly speeds up the rate of entropy
That TES furry actually wrote good articles on 4chan
being "nomadic", or in other words "constantly moving" is the only way to really keep things "consistent". As entropy takes down the old which you have built, you are in the process of creating something new. At some point the old and the new will have been brought to equal levels, and once the old has completely fallen to entropy, it is time to move on.
in this way, you fluctuate around a axis, that axis is your consistency
>tumblr
Surely efficiency has a roll to play here. Like instead on making an axe out of a stone every week I can spend a week to make an axe that lasts a year?
Info > site it's posted on
i'm just joking because its tumblr
It belongs to a "drawfriend"
there is plenty of good stuff buried in tumblr.... it just is quiet, and therefore not often brought into the light.
That is an amazing writeup on 4chan.
It is my go to for explaining anon to people
you know, tumblr seems to be overwhelmingly female. this post seems to claim 4chan is pretty equal in its gender distribution, social media seems to primarily attract more females than males. I'm beginning to think that the internet, at least by todays standards, is fulled with may more female influence than people care to admit
People often pave over facts to fit narratives
also, how hilarious is it that you can technically claim 4chan is the most diverse and equal place on the internet
Remember how Black Panther was the first black superhero on the big screen?
yeah
and deadpool was the first rated r superhero movie
Yup
which both of those are at least beat by blade
and underrated movie if you ask me
and there was probably ones before that too
I'd actually argue females, but particularly young middle class females are heavily over-represented in everything.
i would agree with that assessment
the more you really look, the more it seems things are catered to females.
because society knows that males follow where females go
look at bars
they want to attract and keep women because it brings in more customers, usually male.
wait wait wait
there's no way it is equal
what is "it"
tumblr IS overwhelmingly female
but most online communities are mostly male
It's it
males tend for anon platforms
females shine on social media
here is a question: if you have no way of knowing what someone's sex is, what sex do you default to online?
male
if the user doesn't correct you, how do you know you are correct?
before social media, there was NO incentive for women to be online
you are about to prove my point for me
I'm not saying there werent
I'm saying that overwhelmingly they were male
there was no incentive for them to be women online
the reverse
women always said they were women in the beginning
how do you know
On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog
coz they always tried to get more power online
from BBSs to IRC
they still try the same in games, with some success
the classic joke is there are no women online. only men, men pretending to be women, and FBI agents pretending to be 13 yo girls
if there were a LOT of women, they would be competing between themselves
which they arent
they compete in social media, and thats pretty much it
even Youtube, that supposedly appeals to women, is mostly male
then you have twitch, you watch men if they are fun or good, you watch women for their looks
it really ruins the idea of equality, but they do it to themselves
so you think most women like being objectified?
most women would say "no" and lie
i was in a group. and only recently was a fairly sure the leader is actually female, although they refuse to post pics of themselves
I know where you were going from the start
they attracted two types of attention: thirst, and vindictiveness
that doesn't mean online it is full of females hiding as males
not all females like the former, none likes the latter
there is a difference between pretending to be male, and not telling someone you are female
there are lots of people i talked to online, who i have never ASK what sex they are
default is male
no reason to
you dont have to ask, after some time you will know
unless they are very deviant
i assume they are male, but they have never given a reason to tell me they are or are not.
you seem to have a low opinion of women
not all women are Anita
