on the first year of /biz/, there was actual rich people there giving advice about stocks, investments, starting a business, etc

2018-08-01 19:53:15 UTC

now it's just crypto shilling and nothing else

2018-08-01 19:53:40 UTC

There are two degenerative trends on image boards and one fatal flaw

2018-08-01 19:53:54 UTC

speaking of crypto shilling, where is our resident crypto shill?

2018-08-01 19:54:20 UTC

dont derail this

2018-08-01 19:54:32 UTC

we already derailed enough by talking about 4chan 😂

2018-08-01 19:54:41 UTC

One is "people don't understand the filter is not sincere". See: "/v/ hates games"
Two is getting overrun
The fatal flaw is getting 1984'd by mods in an attempt to prevent this

2018-08-01 19:57:29 UTC

The only way to keep post quality is to be nomadic and obscure

2018-08-01 19:58:26 UTC

>The only way to keep post quality is to be nomadic and obscure

2018-08-01 19:58:28 UTC

this

2018-08-01 19:58:29 UTC

so much

2018-08-01 19:58:31 UTC

it hurts

2018-08-01 19:58:57 UTC

but that's the thing, you can have a big community, but it still needs to be "kinda" niche

2018-08-01 19:59:52 UTC

I kinda can't help but see image boards as a kind of social microcosm either

2018-08-01 20:01:04 UTC

Wherein it seems like the normal methods of growth and stagnation lead to an overabundance of people who are not terribly interested in the original key principles, or contributing to larger works

2018-08-01 20:01:39 UTC

This is also, going back to imageboards, probably why /tg/ is one of the more productive boards

2018-08-01 20:05:44 UTC

I hate that article

2018-08-01 20:05:48 UTC

What the hell do they mean by muggles?

2018-08-01 20:06:15 UTC

imo that article is shit

2018-08-01 20:06:26 UTC

and they give names to shit that make nosense

2018-08-01 20:07:05 UTC

that article is really bad to explain 4chan boards for example

2018-08-01 20:07:28 UTC

it fits for fashion and music groups though

2018-08-01 20:07:43 UTC

fighting entropy is a losing battle

2018-08-01 20:07:58 UTC

and technology constantly speeds up the rate of entropy

2018-08-01 20:10:33 UTC

That TES furry actually wrote good articles on 4chan

2018-08-01 20:10:35 UTC

being "nomadic", or in other words "constantly moving" is the only way to really keep things "consistent". As entropy takes down the old which you have built, you are in the process of creating something new. At some point the old and the new will have been brought to equal levels, and once the old has completely fallen to entropy, it is time to move on.

2018-08-01 20:11:18 UTC

in this way, you fluctuate around a axis, that axis is your consistency

2018-08-01 20:11:57 UTC

>tumblr

2018-08-01 20:12:22 UTC

Surely efficiency has a roll to play here. Like instead on making an axe out of a stone every week I can spend a week to make an axe that lasts a year?

2018-08-01 20:12:25 UTC

Info > site it's posted on

2018-08-01 20:12:39 UTC

i'm just joking because its tumblr

2018-08-01 20:12:57 UTC

It belongs to a "drawfriend"

2018-08-01 20:13:16 UTC

there is plenty of good stuff buried in tumblr.... it just is quiet, and therefore not often brought into the light.

2018-08-01 20:24:56 UTC

That is an amazing writeup on 4chan.

2018-08-01 20:26:01 UTC

It is my go to for explaining anon to people

2018-08-01 20:26:16 UTC

you know, tumblr seems to be overwhelmingly female. this post seems to claim 4chan is pretty equal in its gender distribution, social media seems to primarily attract more females than males. I'm beginning to think that the internet, at least by todays standards, is fulled with may more female influence than people care to admit

2018-08-01 20:26:41 UTC

People often pave over facts to fit narratives

2018-08-01 20:26:50 UTC

also, how hilarious is it that you can technically claim 4chan is the most diverse and equal place on the internet

2018-08-01 20:27:01 UTC

Remember how Black Panther was the first black superhero on the big screen?
