there are 33K people watching hearthstone on twitch right now
so there's a market (obviously)
I love HS my boys and I play all the time...I always end up playing against "Your opponent" thats not you is it lol
Tim or anyone in NY..my fam and i are visiting this summer 1st time...any thing you recommend seeing that is not on the usual list?
Words
also hi Tim
appreciate the work despite the difficulties, i think it'll be worth it
ny state or city?
city
I just wonder if there are any secret things I and family should do that might be overlooked usually
how long you staying? just visiting for the day
5 nights, an afterthought as we are going to DC and we from west coast
DC traffics hell forwarning if your driving
nyc traffic isn't better
true
nope, from CA? hell no..flight
hey youd be suprised who drives llol
DC's main issue is that everyone drives like a maniac
same with Richmond
im from VA btw lol
if you have a rented car, i'd leave it parked somewhere. at least in nyc you can take the subway or walk most everywhere (i'd avoid a taxi unless you want pay out the ass)
or pay with the ass
Last time i was in NYC traffic was just congested if i remember correctly
lol
lol, I want to walk my ass off...always easy way to stay in shape
also, tip for walking in nyc: watch the cars as much as the traffic lights, and do NOT fight right of way with a taxi. taxi always has the right of way, even when it doesn't
anywhere you plan to go for the DC half?
all over, Fed monuments, White House, etc. We are missing the gettysburg reenactment by like 2 days :(
"im walkin here!" when Taxi does something dickish lel
if your family is okay with slightly raunchy plays, i'd suggest going to watch avenue Q at the new world stages while you are in nyc. its a hilarious play
cool ill check it out, thanks
i went to one of those (Gettysburg anniversary) pretty fun
def go to Smithsonian
^
I love and retain history stuff...don't know how/I forget just about everything else way to easily
try to hit as many monuments as you can but dont feel obligated
you can walk to most places too
I heard that mid/late July is very humid...as bad as Florida?
I want to get back up there and go to the spy musuem
depends VA/Maryland is bipolar on weather
as for NY idk probs kinda cold lel
It will be humid but the amount i cant say atm
Stay hydrated nonetheless
wont be as bad as Florida though, although it might be because im used to it lol
pollen counts been high lately if anything
nyc? cold? in july?
sorry if I got the news room derailed :P just read the info at top..my bad
im joking about the north being cold
whoops
its not that far north. we are not canada up here
just canada lite
truuuuuuuuu
:)
I so wish that I knew how to do tim's job, I would so love to help him out with research or something
my governor might legalize gambling in VA lol
aaaand now i have a pet bear
far cry, you crazy
Is that the solution to Tims problem? Let it all ride on red baby!
whaa
Ive been following gaming newws lately, mainly the loot box thing. as for big news the North Korea things pretty wild imo
a bear, with diabetes, who loves cheeseburgers
what the hell
well, that explains 1/2 of inner city im thinking
Also ive been planning to do some research on the US Opium crisis, got some sources just need to read them and write something up
I am fascinated by those who live in the City. I could never live there but am intrigued by those who do.
True American Bear
im suburban
even then i wouldnt live in a city
would work in one though probs
yeah I have spent years working in the city but like to go home away from it all.
I really loved Tim's piece that he was talking about not knowing his neighbors. I was like WOW! I know 5-6 of the families near me. It's an amazing world we live in and how different people interact based upon the area they live.
Cities are good for a visit too but wouldnt live there, to congested
I don't know if it would make good news per say but it might be interesting to find out how different people interact based upon their geographic locations...Like Inner City, Rural, Coastal, inland..etc or maybe its just me
I think alot of people have generalized view points about the other half but many views are totally of base? or they expect that people believe the same thing but feel totally different ways about it...and the reasons may not be even what the other half would guess
I worked in a House of Delegates campaign during the VA elections in my area and there is a difference in how people interact with you when you campaigning based not only on where you are but who you are representing too
Yeah Tim did that one video on him talking to that gal and other guy...I think they are associated with Minds...It was interesting how they viewed things and how sometimes were very caught off guard by some things felt/said. They were talking about survival training and the like.
I went to lower class and upper middle class neighborhoods and while most of the time i was going to homes of known party supporters, some people can still be alittle standoffish, while others are very welcoming, sometimes almost to much so.
whats interesting is that the most friendly people were those of the lower classes
the upper end was less likely to speak to me, although some did
#notall lel
yea the survivalist thing was neat
er the "Would Liberal's survive the apocalypse"
Once i finally move out im plan to look into some survivalist stuff tbh
lol, yeah I don't like people at my front door. I like to approach and talk to people that I don't know in a neutral location.
Yeah that was the one
yea tbh it can be a potentially dangerous job knocking on doors to GOTV
get out the vote
one guy kicked me off his property cause i didnt see his no trespassing sign, i apologized and left, im glad he did not call the cops.
sometimes id skip a house based on the general appearance or feeling i got from them
like "that ONE sketchy house"
I think Tim does a great job talking about those things. Especially when he interacts with people in interview situations. Off the Cuff style he does great. Don't get me wrong I love all his stuff. I listen to lots of Media but only a few that I truly enjoy. The more I hear about his views the further/different I realize he is? But not in a bad way I have been able to re-look as some very older views again.
but tbh it was worth the experience of talking to average people about what they thought was important to them
I admire Tim for having integrity and trying to provide the facts
stuffs rare on TV media nowadays
Yeah, I hear ya. I really dig on the original views of our founding fathers though and the reasons for those views. I find that my views are much closer to those views than most of our politics (on both sides) these days.
Mind you i have no problem with Opinion media but when they treat it like FACT then I have a problem
True
The lines are sooooo blured now days on those 2 things though.
I worry about Colleges too cause while US colleges have a history of radicalism i think this is a different and arguably more dangerous kind that we are seeing at some schools
Denzel calls it "opinews"
lol
makes sense
its crazy how Youtubers have more journalistic integrity than media corps
like seems kinda backwards
corporatocracy
I think part of the problem is that all the previous laws set to prevent "yellow journalism" are now essentially gone
yeaaaa
Its hard to know whats up/down. That is where someone like Tim comes in. It is needed as we have all the info in the world but we need people we trust to give it context.
yep
indeed
and as we know from Dankula's case CONTEXT IS KING
well unless your the Scottish justice system or the media then i guess it doesn't matter lol
exactely
Im so glad they did the protest
tbh I know the US has the First Amendment but I think we should have a free speech march in the US
like we need to remind people how important the amendment is
cause people take it for granted big time
but you cant use "free speech" in the name, it's a "dog whistle" blah blah blah
idk if ones already being planned though lol
yea which is soooo stupid
ditto
call it a First Amendment March
Perspective...that's the word I was looking for. We as the user need those who can/will give and honest perspective so I can properly understand it.
Can we just have a Bill of Rights march?
yea
I'll support the First amendment and all...
Constitution in general
but #1 and #2 get all the damned attention.
march for inalienable rights
thats true
all the others are all alone...left out
@XboxOff404 thats a good one
Count Dankula serves as a reminder of why we not only have #1
but why we have #5
And Number 6
and tbh if someone's opposed to that then it points them out for everyone to see
yea
Prior to that incident I really did not have any idea how their rights differed from ours in the states.
We have the bill of rights for THAT SPECIFIC reason.
theyve got no written constitution which ive always thought was stupid
Magna Carta was the closest thing i guess
Does anyone know whats Tim's stats are like...say from country to country? I think I recall him mention that once. Is there a place I can look?
historically speaking, america has the rights we have because we had just removed a giant jackboot from our collective assess
yea
Magna Carta was ours, wasn't it?
We made it that way so that future generations wouldnt have to live under the same circumstances
Magna Carta was England
Alright.
nope..England 1215
hate citing Wikipedia but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_Carta
Still, Right to free speech, Right to a speedy trial, without unnecessary delay, an impartial jury, to know who your accusers are, etc.
yeah I hate it but it is easy to default to using that site as an Encyclopedia...so sad as its not!
All of which were denied to the Dank.
i was a history and poly-sci major in college so i actively avoided wikipedia
partly cause i had too lol
yea he did get denied like all of those
Its like a tabloid..well that's the feeling I get when reading it.
http://www.ushistory.org/documents/magnacarta.htm here's a transcription
It took less time to try Nazi war criminals.
Reminder that the Nazi's dropped their charges on the Fin
But the UK government wont because theyre on a misguided morally righteous crusade
Talking about Nazi's I watched this one a while back and its very interesting on how Japanese understand/view WWII and the Swastika. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qV7xbAVOY0
well for one thing, the Swastika wasn't created by the nazis - it was stolen.
I know that they did not even talk about WWII for years in their education system but damn.
pre-Nazi it meant Good Luck.
hardly any different from a horseshoe.
In fact, somewhere in my house (I couldn't find it)
very true but the symbolic understanding of it by the Japanese public was shocking to say the least
I've got a 'lucky coin' with 4 leaf clovers, horseshoes, and a swastika on it
its a hindu symbol right?
I was fairly certain, but still wanted to double check... the magna carta didn't concern ordinary individuals. It was a guarantee between, essentially, the upper class - the king and barons.
it was Buddhist symbol
Fins used it too
Yeah, I was thinking it was buddhist.
or hindu...damn now I need to find it on Wiki :P
jk
Buddhism was somewhat rooted in Hinduism anyway
so it may have been derivative.
its both
plus Janism
good to know, more for me to study..I love to study
So, Lago and Demos, you guys are newbies here, huh?
Si
@XboxOff404 "- Today at 10:48 PM
I was fairly certain, but still wanted to double check... the magna carta didn't concern ordinary individuals. It was a guarantee between, essentially, the upper class - the king and barons." yea and those rights should be extended
yea
Welcome! The more the merrier around here.
Why thank you.
We have some pretty good conversations around here, sometimes.
At least until certain people who found their way here and probably didn't actually watch anything Tim Pool has ever posted show up to post stuff.
I won't name names. You'll probably realize what I'm talking about when it happens. ๐
that videos interesting cause it proves how cultural differences cause people to perceive things differently
Thanks
Yeah np
got some shitposters
and not like in the channel
?
I have been watching/reading more about how different people view USA vs their country.
Yeah... kind of.
I'd be interested to hear about that, Demos.
check this for western use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_use_of_the_swastika_in_the_early_20th_century
Lots of exchange kids from Europe like Germany who stayed in US...They all over. Very interesting to get their views on things though
i know a guy from Romania that isnt Vee lol, he's been wanting to move to either Canada or the US cause he cant get by with all the political corruption there
How does someone wind up here if he/she hasn't been exposed to Tim's content?
Put simply, we've got at least one racial separatist alt-righter that hangs out in Shitposting sometimes, who doesn't seem to realize that he's hanging around in a chat room for a bi-racial youtuber.
VA has a lot of Scotts-Irish history
pffft lol
"In Finland the hakaristi (swastika) was used as the official national marking of the Finnish Defence Forces between 1918 and 1945 and also of the Finnish Air Force, anti-aircraft troops as a part of the air force and tank troops at that time. "
thats why lots of Winter War Fin tanks have them
I live in a city that has buildings old enough that they've got swastikas in the brickwork.
interesting, in the states?
yea its neat to see towns with brickwork thats got symbols
or just a specific design
Posting it in Shitposting.
probs built pre-war
Most definitely.
in all likelyhood
and if not then they just gave NO fucks lel
I admit that I am fascinated by history and the like, but I have found that in some places while asking about stuff people can get very deffensive and get bent that you are asking about it when its more controversial.
Tim's a free speech absolutist, and runs the server essentially by those rules.
It was a bit of a shock in the early days
Well if we could only get all those other medias to work the same way then the world might actually become a better place. Speaking is communication and that leads to understanding...well sometimes
Im the guy that breaks the rule "dont talk about religion or politics at the table" lol
I want to know what people think
i want to discuss things
if my wife uses a strapon on another man does that still make me a cuck?
hell i have disagreements with my own parents but luckily we maintain respect so things don't escalate
I'm trying to build an independent media service to cover my state, and it's going to ideally feature an emphasis on free speech and citizen journalism
Yeah I would agree
well to the speech not the utility item :P
what state? or should I ask?
No progress will be made if people just shut eachother out is my belief
I'll give you a hint, the late Lee Earmey had some choice words for people from this state.
mfw I doxxed myself lol
I believe that sometimes people don't/won't hear and things need to be SAID. But as a general rule I agree.
although all i said was which state im from so i guess not really lol
lol
hmm it got anything to do with Steers?
kek
I got ya, Full Metal Jacket ?
I'm most definitely a Steer, for the record.
If anyone asks.
SUuuuuure lol jk
lol, I got family down near the Woodlands
and I know where that's at.
I'm west coast..I so need off this coast
yea
South coast best coast.
nah East ftw
