2018-06-13 20:11:21 UTC

THAT should be the right link

2018-06-13 20:11:41 UTC

You mean what I put in <#398973785426100234> ?

2018-06-13 20:31:39 UTC

@Timcast the victim blaming part at the end of your Lindsay Shepherd video is bullshit and I'm disappointed in you.

2018-06-13 20:32:04 UTC

victim blaming?

2018-06-13 20:32:11 UTC

You're basically saying that if you want to be employable you have to shut up and let left-wing activists abuse you.

2018-06-13 20:32:19 UTC

you mean when i said she has a right to stand up for herself and you cant expect people to take things lying down

2018-06-13 20:32:29 UTC

Like she shouldn't have spoken out about the tribunal.

2018-06-13 20:36:48 UTC

You said "in terms of arguing that she has become unemployable, that's actually not really Laurier's fault".

2018-06-13 20:37:33 UTC

And then you're saying that her having the foresight to record the tribunal was the genesis for her being unemployable.

2018-06-13 20:38:34 UTC

Like if she had just taken the abuse in silence and let activists run the university, gone along with their system like a good comrade, that she'd be fine.

2018-06-13 20:39:35 UTC

What's tragic is that the Canadian justice system is likely to follow your reasoning. I don't think she'll win this suit, and she'll be basically a pariah.

2018-06-13 20:44:12 UTC

depends how she "became unemployable" was that really lauriers fault?

2018-06-13 20:45:57 UTC

I don't think she's going to win. And the result of that will be that fewer people in Academia will speak out against the political indoctrination that goes on there.

2018-06-13 20:46:40 UTC

my guess would be settelment

2018-06-13 20:46:44 UTC

Because political activist professors with power over your future career can destroy you and face no consequences. The only logical conclusion will be to keep silent and toe the line.

2018-06-13 20:48:24 UTC

So political indoctrination in university will continue unchallenged. People might joke that the left can't meme and that people are getting annoyed at political correctness, but that's just trivial ankle-biting. The left has real institutional power that is not being challenged.

2018-06-13 20:48:27 UTC

The left is winning.

2018-06-13 20:49:50 UTC

She technically did make herself unemployable, but the question would more be whether the government will rule if the environment she wants to work in is acceptable if it considers her actions as cause to be unemployable.

2018-06-13 20:50:39 UTC

The defense will claim that she has to prove she is unemployable. She has to prove a negative.

2018-06-13 20:50:50 UTC

She can get a job at starbucks.

2018-06-13 20:51:20 UTC

It's not a strong lawsuit.

2018-06-13 20:51:33 UTC

Whenever you are trying to force change you need internal or external pressure. Any action you take will be unlikely to satisfy both parties.

2018-06-13 20:51:51 UTC

Her only hope is that the university gives her a settlement to avoid bad press, but the press in Canada hate her guts.

2018-06-13 20:53:48 UTC

from what it sounded like, it has little to do with her employableness .. and more about how she was treated while working there

2018-06-13 20:54:19 UTC

Was this a public university or a private one?

2018-06-13 20:54:20 UTC

Lmao i doubt she could get a job at starbucks.

2018-06-13 20:57:16 UTC

I supose it doesnt really matter, there are tons of things she could put in the law suit

2018-06-13 20:57:27 UTC

Defamation of character would be the easiest one I could think of

2018-06-13 20:59:29 UTC

you'd still have to prove an impact to her earnings or future earnings to get any award, though. unfortunately its hard to put a finger on the fact that half or more of the private sector won't hire her and neither will the public/gov sector because it would be very political.

2018-06-13 21:00:13 UTC

She will never get hired by a state/government agency.

2018-06-13 21:05:15 UTC

whelp... looks like Tommy Robinson will be dead soon

2018-06-13 21:06:23 UTC

F

2018-06-13 21:06:33 UTC

As far as I'm aware there are no universities in Canada that would uphold the principles of the Chicago Letter, and none want the risk of hiring a person like Shepherd. I doubt she could find someone as a PhD advisor.

2018-06-13 21:06:52 UTC

Says that suit claims that someone told her " showing the clip was illegal under human rights law"

2018-06-13 21:06:59 UTC

this seems very simple and easy to prove

2018-06-13 21:07:08 UTC

That's in the recording as far as I'm aware.

2018-06-13 21:07:25 UTC

So either A it is illegal under human rights law to question laws

2018-06-13 21:07:35 UTC

or B The university/person has stepped beyond thier bounds

2018-06-13 21:07:39 UTC

Bill C-16?

2018-06-13 21:08:06 UTC

Canada does not have free speech, so it's possible that the law could be interpreted that way.

2018-06-13 21:08:11 UTC

They dont say, just that showing the clip was Illegal under human rights laws

2018-06-13 21:08:41 UTC

Now the university has to argue one of those two points in court

2018-06-13 21:11:46 UTC

I want them to hang that person out to dry to make an example of her

2018-06-13 21:12:16 UTC

However i doubt it will come to that, theyll probably try to settle before they have to get involved in this free speech debate that puts peterson back in the spotlight

2018-06-13 21:23:25 UTC

@Atkins She fought back by publishing a secret recording. Shes going on the offensive by suing now

2018-06-13 21:23:35 UTC

in any fight bad shit happens

2018-06-13 21:23:42 UTC

im unemployable in a shitload of jobs

2018-06-13 21:23:44 UTC

publicity does that

2018-06-13 21:24:11 UTC

She should not have had to fight anything because universities should not be political indoctrination centers.

2018-06-13 21:24:31 UTC

Yeah its just impossible to explain that legitimately because there's no proof.

2018-06-13 21:24:52 UTC

So her choices where say something and fight back and get ruined, or go along with the political indoctrination.

2018-06-13 21:25:08 UTC

right

2018-06-13 21:25:21 UTC

shes fighting back and she will be surrounded by eh collateral damage of that

2018-06-13 21:25:25 UTC

I'm saying it's bullshit to say it's her own fault for fighting back.

2018-06-13 21:25:30 UTC

I really dont think she will win the suit but Laurier will likely settle

2018-06-13 21:25:31 UTC

It's victim blaming.

2018-06-13 21:25:46 UTC

personal responsibility and choosing your battles

2018-06-13 21:26:10 UTC

and this isnt even a pyrrhic victory

2018-06-13 21:26:19 UTC

side note

2018-06-13 21:26:22 UTC

Whatever buzzwords you choose to call it, atkins, it is what it is. Tim isn't making up the rules.

2018-06-13 21:26:25 UTC

new merch will start appearing on my channel

2018-06-13 21:27:12 UTC

beanies for everyone

2018-06-13 21:29:05 UTC

If choosing your battles means keeping silent and allowing political indoctrination to go unchallenged, what battle should she have chosen to fight instead?

2018-06-13 21:29:57 UTC

Just keep her head down, finish her masters, then keep her head down and stay on the PhD track, then keep her head down and try to get a professorship then keep her head down and try to get tenure to do what?

2018-06-13 21:30:02 UTC

Retire?

2018-06-13 21:30:25 UTC

if she wanted a PhD yes

2018-06-13 21:30:26 UTC

Just keep parroting the party line?

2018-06-13 21:30:29 UTC

because adults make hard choices

2018-06-13 21:30:41 UTC

she chose to fight back

2018-06-13 21:30:46 UTC

in that she has become unemplyable

2018-06-13 21:30:53 UTC

she chose to publish the audio

2018-06-13 21:30:58 UTC

she could have kept the audio and filed suit

2018-06-13 21:31:02 UTC

no pbulicity

2018-06-13 21:31:08 UTC

the point is

2018-06-13 21:31:12 UTC

Laurier is a public university.

2018-06-13 21:31:13 UTC

fight back, whatever

2018-06-13 21:31:20 UTC

It should not be a political indoctrination center.

2018-06-13 21:31:30 UTC

but dont blame bad PR on anyone other than the person who generated the publicity

2018-06-13 21:32:03 UTC

That professors are using a public university for political purposes is wrong. It's not a case where you can just stay silent and let it happen if you want to have a functioning democracy.

2018-06-13 21:32:17 UTC

It is abuse of power.

2018-06-13 21:32:32 UTC

And you're saying it's OK that they abused their power.

2018-06-13 21:32:45 UTC

2018-06-13 21:32:58 UTC

2018-06-13 21:32:59 UTC

2018-06-13 21:33:01 UTC

the joke was supposed to be

2018-06-13 21:33:06 UTC

2018-06-13 21:33:20 UTC

2018-06-13 21:33:22 UTC

About that merchandise, will there be T-shirts with just a picture of a beanie on them?

2018-06-13 21:33:23 UTC

some latin phrase would work well

2018-06-13 21:33:25 UTC

and people would freak out

2018-06-13 21:33:35 UTC

i can make a shirt with a beanie on it
