I think it's possible for someone to seek help, but with the stigma attached to it (and it evokes a strong negative reaction from most people) I can see why some would choose to just not talk about it at all.

there is a two parts here. I think attraction to what we call children, but are humans that have started to and/or gotten at least half way through puberty is way more common than we care to admit, and may not be an actual disease but an undesirable by-product of when a 15 yo was an adult and having kids. Then there is attraction to those before puberty, which probably is a mental disorder.
