the things that you have seen
leaderless movements suck in that way. There's nobody to say what they are and aren't, so they're more easily co-opted
@Senny Occupy Wallstreet
@Schedrevka i don't believe any movement is leaderless
yea OWS history is all pro occupy because the onyl people there supporteed it
there is always someone that takes over
when I hear "OWS" my brain thinks "AWS", thanks development life.
theres was a lot of shady shit too
people steeling money
one guy was accused of using donations to stay at the W hotel
800$ per night
one chic took a macbook that was donated to the protest
@Timcast i memba you mentioned this a bunch of times in your videos
There will always be corruption within humans no matter what cause they "fight" for . On both sides no exceptions
but my side is the good side that can't be true
good and evil are subjective
"god is on my side"
each side thinks they are doing good
I'm pretty sure there are broad areas where most people can agree that certain acts are bad.
'science is on my side' - people in favor of genocide circa 1940
theres a comic i remember from when i was little
Like nobody anywhere is going to be able to convince me that child rape is OK just because pederasty is a normal part of Pashtun culture.
its a guy holding a hammer
about to hit the front of a nuke
saying "god is on my side"
reminds me of the experiments done on the demon core. Their careless experiments were called 'tickling a sleeping dragon's tail'
idk man ... alls im saying is .... I'm glad I live in America and I feel pretty confident that I will be able to live a life where I am probably going to die of old age and not have to worry about the dangers that third world countires have to go through
What's the purpose of the upcoming march?
disease or old age are what most americans have to worry about dying to
@possumsquat93 I think Patriot Prayer's reasoning is "use it or lose it" in regards to free speech.
Is it a test for Antifa?
Do you think they'd stop marching if Antifa stopped showing up?
Probably. It'd be pretty boring for everyone.
In a reasonable world there would be no question that you're allowed to peaceably assemble and voice your opinions.
So showing up in a group and saying "we like America and freedom" would be pretty mundane and boring.
Who'd bother to show up for that?
@Atkins never underestimate people with no jobs and a gender studies degree
Yeah, I'm talking about the mythical world in which such people wouldn't protest.
@Atkins bruh that world exists .... almost any middle eastern country .... or chyna
In such a world affirming one's right to freedom of speech would be so banal that it wouldn't merit participation.
egypt or turkey or venezuela ....
oh wait ...
Dude we're talking about America.
Those places can deal with their own shit themselves.
you sed world
ffs man
@Atkins agree
Those smarties need to help thier own country
and thier own country need to praise those people
It's been really heartening to see all the protests going on in Iran against mandatory hijab and things like public dancing. Those are some brave people.
If Iran's demographics are anything like Saudi Arabia's the mullahs are on borrowed time.
Their power base is going to die of old age soon.
But there's also a massive economic component. Iran's economy is awful and the government is spending what little money they have on foreign military expenditures that do nothing to help anyone anywhere.
How is sending drones and missiles and shit to Syria helping someone in Iran find a job and put food on the table? Their unemployment is double digits.
rofl i like the hick in the audience nodding. "i totally get it now that gumballs are involved"
I wonder how widespread the protests in Iran would be if they didn't get the $100B in frozen assets back.
While I like the gumball demonstration for the visual clarity it gives a discussion of numbers and rates of change, there's an issue there that's not being discussed. All those people in developing nations, if they were to achieve the kind of prosperity we have, would also be using resources at the rate we are and polluting at the rate we are. Most likely they would do so even faster during the transition period.
@Timcast hey tim I just want to say that you have a nice fireplace and I was hella mirin it in your latest video. Can you livestream making smores?
Elevating people out of poverty is a noble goal, but nobody thinks of the environmental impact.
I agree. As an engineering student I wouldn't leave my country, only exception would be a love interest otherwise I would stay here and do my part to improve what I can
Environmental impact will be there whether they're producing for export or producing for themselevs.
Might as well be for themselves
Hard to have much environmental impact on like $2 a day.
Is it true that people outside of the US/Canada don't eat S'mores, and how can they live that way?
x however many million the gumballs represented? i'd say thats a lot
I was looking through the comments of a Gavin McInnes video.
What happens if all those gumballs want cars? Or air conditioning?
I don't like smores. Graham crackers kind of suck
And good god that man has not done very well to denounce his alt right. It's clear he isn't one himself, but he won't deny their patronage.
I argue with his fans and they are aware of none of his positions.
They'd have to make more than 2 bucks a day
I think Gavin subscribes to the "no denouncement will ever be enough" school of thought.
So he doesn't really try.
@Timcast nice new set, hope the echo is fixed with more furniture
If he did he'd spend every second of air time denouncing the alt right and none putting out his message.
gavin doesnt seem like the type to suffer fools with an apology every time he does a video
Here's a sort of video that Milo has, that Gavin doesn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywmd8kR-AmI
I don't really like the guy and I think he's incoherent but I understand why he wouldn't bother denouncing anyone.
It's the same school of thought as Lauren Southern and the Molymeme. Their opponents are never going to listen to a denoucement and say "well I guess they aren't nazis so we can't ever accuse them of being nazis ever again"
Southern is way more likeable
But on this specific issue, she's probably the worst.
She never says *anything.*
That would distinctly bother the alt right.
In a way that feels like she avoids it on purpose.
Its not like the left would take her in if she did
Gavin very well may avoid it completely by accident.
She has said she's not with the alt right, but her friends are obviously
She's not going to denounce them
Like most political ideologies, some of their points are good ones
Her friends are..?
News to me. Whom?
Britney pettibone and her bf, the guy from europa
I don't understand how anyone who loathes identity politics can turn around participate in it themselves.
Being born in a place where my ancestors exterminated the natives I have some sympathy for native Europeans wanting to try to preserve their cultural identity and control of their nations.
I'm really getting sick of the term "cultural identity"
It feels like a term that can mean two very different things at a moment's notice.
And one of them is "race" quite sneakily.
