If Iran's demographics are anything like Saudi Arabia's the mullahs are on borrowed time.
Their power base is going to die of old age soon.
But there's also a massive economic component. Iran's economy is awful and the government is spending what little money they have on foreign military expenditures that do nothing to help anyone anywhere.
How is sending drones and missiles and shit to Syria helping someone in Iran find a job and put food on the table? Their unemployment is double digits.
rofl i like the hick in the audience nodding. "i totally get it now that gumballs are involved"
I wonder how widespread the protests in Iran would be if they didn't get the $100B in frozen assets back.
While I like the gumball demonstration for the visual clarity it gives a discussion of numbers and rates of change, there's an issue there that's not being discussed. All those people in developing nations, if they were to achieve the kind of prosperity we have, would also be using resources at the rate we are and polluting at the rate we are. Most likely they would do so even faster during the transition period.
@Timcast hey tim I just want to say that you have a nice fireplace and I was hella mirin it in your latest video. Can you livestream making smores?
Elevating people out of poverty is a noble goal, but nobody thinks of the environmental impact.
I agree. As an engineering student I wouldn't leave my country, only exception would be a love interest otherwise I would stay here and do my part to improve what I can
Environmental impact will be there whether they're producing for export or producing for themselevs.
Might as well be for themselves
Hard to have much environmental impact on like $2 a day.
Is it true that people outside of the US/Canada don't eat S'mores, and how can they live that way?
x however many million the gumballs represented? i'd say thats a lot
I was looking through the comments of a Gavin McInnes video.
What happens if all those gumballs want cars? Or air conditioning?
I don't like smores. Graham crackers kind of suck
And good god that man has not done very well to denounce his alt right. It's clear he isn't one himself, but he won't deny their patronage.
I argue with his fans and they are aware of none of his positions.
I think Gavin subscribes to the "no denouncement will ever be enough" school of thought.
So he doesn't really try.
@Timcast nice new set, hope the echo is fixed with more furniture
If he did he'd spend every second of air time denouncing the alt right and none putting out his message.
gavin doesnt seem like the type to suffer fools with an apology every time he does a video
Here's a sort of video that Milo has, that Gavin doesn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywmd8kR-AmI
I don't really like the guy and I think he's incoherent but I understand why he wouldn't bother denouncing anyone.
It's the same school of thought as Lauren Southern and the Molymeme. Their opponents are never going to listen to a denoucement and say "well I guess they aren't nazis so we can't ever accuse them of being nazis ever again"
Southern is way more likeable
But on this specific issue, she's probably the worst.
She never says *anything.*
That would distinctly bother the alt right.
In a way that feels like she avoids it on purpose.
Its not like the left would take her in if she did
Gavin very well may avoid it completely by accident.
She has said she's not with the alt right, but her friends are obviously
She's not going to denounce them
Like most political ideologies, some of their points are good ones
Her friends are..?
News to me. Whom?
