2018-07-06 21:41:07 UTC

big oil is a single corporation?

2018-07-06 21:41:13 UTC

you just listed industries

2018-07-06 21:41:15 UTC

Some pharmaceutical companies

2018-07-06 21:41:20 UTC

on drugs that only they make

2018-07-06 21:41:23 UTC

maerkets whre thre is only comcast

2018-07-06 21:41:25 UTC

AS IF there arent smaller businesses in those industries lol

2018-07-06 21:41:27 UTC

I thought big oil was a giant man made of oil

2018-07-06 21:41:57 UTC

Poptarts, you're dismissing what are potentially valid counter-arguments on technicalities

2018-07-06 21:42:45 UTC

again..... you cannot prescribe this an effect of capitalism bcuz of all the lobbying and privileges that corps like comcast get unfairly from the government .... thats an effect corporate welfare youre describing

2018-07-06 21:43:25 UTC

do you think water should be privatized?

2018-07-06 21:43:36 UTC

the telecom industry is SO heavily regulated by the govt that you cannot point to how it appears today as a phenomonen of capitalism bcuz its not

2018-07-06 21:43:55 UTC

Technically, water is already privatized in some areas

2018-07-06 21:44:31 UTC

chicken and egg right? they only get privileges from govt after they got huge. even without govt inteference the barrier to entry in building a telecom network is massive. early adoper / network effects wins

2018-07-06 21:44:39 UTC

^

2018-07-06 21:45:01 UTC

you really need to think thru this stuff.... if invent some device that synthesises water, or of i go off an invest TONS of money to purify say SEA WATER..... of course that would be my private property

2018-07-06 21:45:22 UTC

not to mention that you already BUY water in one way or another

2018-07-06 21:45:42 UTC

bottled water

2018-07-06 21:46:00 UTC

nobody would be entitled to take pure water from that that i have created with my own labor

2018-07-06 21:46:25 UTC

and the "public" water system of course... tap water, etc

2018-07-06 21:46:31 UTC

as if you dont already have to buy it!

2018-07-06 21:46:32 UTC

purifying sea water makes the water yours? who did you buy the sea water from?

2018-07-06 21:46:32 UTC

we also have the whole "raw water" thing

2018-07-06 21:47:04 UTC

nobody owned the sea water to begin with ... it was a raw material that was transformed and i added value to it

2018-07-06 21:47:31 UTC

value is added by the market though

2018-07-06 21:47:33 UTC

the real question is .... what claim would anybody else have on sea water that i have purified?

2018-07-06 21:47:37 UTC

Nobody technically owns any water. What you're paying for is the ease with which you can get the water, due to plumbing, pumps, etc.

2018-07-06 21:47:47 UTC

so if you took raw sea water, bottled it, and called it "authentic indian ocean water, not for drinking" and could sell it

2018-07-06 21:47:50 UTC

that would be yours?

2018-07-06 21:48:00 UTC

i believe that if you can produce your own water, like powering your home yourself. it is effectively yours

2018-07-06 21:48:06 UTC

your body is something like 80% water

2018-07-06 21:48:07 UTC

ownership is an agreement,

If i pulled a gun and just took what you have, you wouldn't own it anymore ๐Ÿ˜›

2018-07-06 21:48:11 UTC

if you dont own that water, who does?

2018-07-06 21:48:19 UTC

my body, my water

2018-07-06 21:48:37 UTC

Yeah, but the water in your body gets cycled in and out as you consume more and then go to the bathroom

2018-07-06 21:48:43 UTC

so if I grab a bottle of your water and drink it without paying for it, I don't owe you anything

2018-07-06 21:48:43 UTC

It's not the same water in you from birth to death

2018-07-06 21:48:45 UTC

because it's my water now

2018-07-06 21:49:22 UTC

but we're not talking about the water in your body

2018-07-06 21:49:30 UTC

that would be stealing.... if i purified shit water .... bottled it, and you stole it... ya that would be stealing..... ? lol

2018-07-06 21:49:34 UTC

Poptarts brought it up

2018-07-06 21:49:56 UTC
2018-07-06 21:50:22 UTC

somebody else started asking about "privatizing" water .... AS IF ppl dont own their own bottles of water!! LOL

2018-07-06 21:50:37 UTC

Yeah, but what you own is the bottle, not the water

2018-07-06 21:50:38 UTC

as if ppl dont *already* own ... etc

2018-07-06 21:50:43 UTC

You drink the water, you piss it out

2018-07-06 21:50:44 UTC

Nestle bottling groundwater that it does not pay for and then selling it

2018-07-06 21:50:47 UTC

lol says who?

2018-07-06 21:50:52 UTC

thats not true at all

2018-07-06 21:51:00 UTC

of course you own the water within the bottle

2018-07-06 21:51:09 UTC

So you're saying that your body has retained *every single drop* of water you've ever consumed

2018-07-06 21:51:12 UTC

the question is not "is it possible to own water"

2018-07-06 21:51:21 UTC

no, i have never said that at all

2018-07-06 21:51:28 UTC

Then how can you own water?

2018-07-06 21:51:44 UTC

it is impossible to own water

2018-07-06 21:51:45 UTC

looks... .the water in your fridge or my giant water bottles is PRIVATE

2018-07-06 21:51:51 UTC

facts

2018-07-06 21:51:56 UTC

nobody can lawfully take that from me ... its private property already

2018-07-06 21:52:10 UTC

Ok so this isnt water but i talked to a guy who has placed solar panels on his home and his home has effectively become a power station, in exchange for providing power to his neighborhood he gets tax cuts and the major power company has to pay HIM for his provision of power or something like that, he didnt give me details.

2018-07-06 21:52:12 UTC

i told you guys, Ownership is an agreement,

If someone disagrees, then you have to either claim it through sovereign right, or release ownership

2018-07-06 21:52:28 UTC

the state is meant to protect your right to private property (police)

2018-07-06 21:52:41 UTC

ive heard about that, Lago

2018-07-06 21:52:52 UTC

so let's say you pour your water into a bowl and it evaporates. who do you sue?

2018-07-06 21:53:06 UTC

its impossible to own a bowl

2018-07-06 21:53:18 UTC

no, you dont need somebody else permission to create your own property/value with your own labor

2018-07-06 21:53:19 UTC

I said "a bowl," I didn't imply you owned the bowl

2018-07-06 21:53:33 UTC

it doesnt depend on the agreement of others for you to exercise absolute property rights

2018-07-06 21:53:44 UTC

property rights come from God?

2018-07-06 21:54:14 UTC

see Poptarts the issue is there's no cosmic property registry that tracks ownership of everything

2018-07-06 21:54:15 UTC

its impossible to own god

2018-07-06 21:54:18 UTC

nobody, hearts... nobody stole it from me... it evaporated bcuz of poor management

2018-07-06 21:54:32 UTC

so obviously jsut gets diluted back into the environment

2018-07-06 21:54:37 UTC

You can create resources, you can't Own them unless you lay claim to it

I can take it from you, if i take it you don't own it anymore

2018-07-06 21:54:41 UTC

its impossible to steal

2018-07-06 21:54:42 UTC

for anybody to extract again and use

2018-07-06 21:54:43 UTC

so it becomes ownerless then

2018-07-06 21:54:51 UTC

you can't own what you create unless you enforce your claim on it

2018-07-06 21:54:58 UTC

have you ever seen There Will Be Blood?

2018-07-06 21:55:08 UTC

"I drink your milkshake" etc

2018-07-06 21:55:14 UTC

But the thing is he OWNs the solar panels and thus the power station that his home has effectively become, it is not controlled by the government but by agreeing with the government to use his panels to provide power in the area he gains benefits from it. I dont know if this is something he HAS to do or he has a choice though.

2018-07-06 21:55:37 UTC

i prefered the more accurate, Its Impossible For There To Be Blood

2018-07-06 21:55:56 UTC

There will be blood Maybe

2018-07-06 21:56:03 UTC

Nobody Can Own Blood

2018-07-06 21:56:17 UTC

pretty sure i "own" my blood

2018-07-06 21:56:22 UTC

Nobody can own nothing, but at the same time, nobody can own anything

2018-07-06 21:56:36 UTC

We have officially proven that ownership is a social construct

2018-07-06 21:56:39 UTC

congratulations

2018-07-06 21:56:42 UTC

lol

2018-07-06 21:56:44 UTC

nobody said there needs to be a "cosmic property registry" in order to have private property rights

2018-07-06 21:56:51 UTC

where the commies right lol

2018-07-06 21:56:59 UTC

you said property ownership is absolute

2018-07-06 21:57:03 UTC

me ni๐Ÿ…ฑ๐Ÿ…ฑas

2018-07-06 21:57:13 UTC

its possible to own stuff, calm down

2018-07-06 21:57:27 UTC

who owns Palestine?

2018-07-06 21:57:29 UTC

depends who you ask

2018-07-06 21:57:37 UTC

the jews do, sooner or later

2018-07-06 21:57:44 UTC

Asking the BIG questions lol

2018-07-06 21:57:58 UTC

maybe that example was too controversial

2018-07-06 21:58:10 UTC

Who owns the Earth?

2018-07-06 21:58:17 UTC

did you know all the land in the British commonwealth is technically owned by the Royal Family?
