AS IF there arent smaller businesses in those industries lol

2018-07-06 21:41:27 UTC

I thought big oil was a giant man made of oil

2018-07-06 21:41:57 UTC

Poptarts, you're dismissing what are potentially valid counter-arguments on technicalities

2018-07-06 21:42:45 UTC

again..... you cannot prescribe this an effect of capitalism bcuz of all the lobbying and privileges that corps like comcast get unfairly from the government .... thats an effect corporate welfare youre describing

2018-07-06 21:43:25 UTC

do you think water should be privatized?

2018-07-06 21:43:36 UTC

the telecom industry is SO heavily regulated by the govt that you cannot point to how it appears today as a phenomonen of capitalism bcuz its not

2018-07-06 21:43:55 UTC

Technically, water is already privatized in some areas

2018-07-06 21:44:31 UTC

chicken and egg right? they only get privileges from govt after they got huge. even without govt inteference the barrier to entry in building a telecom network is massive. early adoper / network effects wins

2018-07-06 21:44:39 UTC

^

2018-07-06 21:45:01 UTC

you really need to think thru this stuff.... if invent some device that synthesises water, or of i go off an invest TONS of money to purify say SEA WATER..... of course that would be my private property

2018-07-06 21:45:22 UTC

not to mention that you already BUY water in one way or another

2018-07-06 21:45:42 UTC

bottled water

2018-07-06 21:46:00 UTC

nobody would be entitled to take pure water from that that i have created with my own labor

2018-07-06 21:46:25 UTC

and the "public" water system of course... tap water, etc

2018-07-06 21:46:31 UTC

as if you dont already have to buy it!

2018-07-06 21:46:32 UTC

purifying sea water makes the water yours? who did you buy the sea water from?

2018-07-06 21:46:32 UTC

we also have the whole "raw water" thing

2018-07-06 21:47:04 UTC

nobody owned the sea water to begin with ... it was a raw material that was transformed and i added value to it

2018-07-06 21:47:31 UTC

value is added by the market though

2018-07-06 21:47:33 UTC

the real question is .... what claim would anybody else have on sea water that i have purified?

2018-07-06 21:47:37 UTC

Nobody technically owns any water. What you're paying for is the ease with which you can get the water, due to plumbing, pumps, etc.

2018-07-06 21:47:47 UTC

so if you took raw sea water, bottled it, and called it "authentic indian ocean water, not for drinking" and could sell it

2018-07-06 21:47:50 UTC

that would be yours?

2018-07-06 21:48:00 UTC

i believe that if you can produce your own water, like powering your home yourself. it is effectively yours

2018-07-06 21:48:06 UTC

your body is something like 80% water

2018-07-06 21:48:07 UTC

ownership is an agreement,

If i pulled a gun and just took what you have, you wouldn't own it anymore 😛

2018-07-06 21:48:11 UTC

if you dont own that water, who does?

2018-07-06 21:48:19 UTC

my body, my water

2018-07-06 21:48:37 UTC

Yeah, but the water in your body gets cycled in and out as you consume more and then go to the bathroom

2018-07-06 21:48:43 UTC

so if I grab a bottle of your water and drink it without paying for it, I don't owe you anything

2018-07-06 21:48:43 UTC

It's not the same water in you from birth to death

2018-07-06 21:48:45 UTC

because it's my water now

2018-07-06 21:49:22 UTC

but we're not talking about the water in your body

2018-07-06 21:49:30 UTC

that would be stealing.... if i purified shit water .... bottled it, and you stole it... ya that would be stealing..... ? lol

2018-07-06 21:49:34 UTC

Poptarts brought it up

2018-07-06 21:49:56 UTC
2018-07-06 21:50:22 UTC

somebody else started asking about "privatizing" water .... AS IF ppl dont own their own bottles of water!! LOL

2018-07-06 21:50:37 UTC

Yeah, but what you own is the bottle, not the water

2018-07-06 21:50:38 UTC

as if ppl dont *already* own ... etc

2018-07-06 21:50:43 UTC

You drink the water, you piss it out

2018-07-06 21:50:44 UTC

Nestle bottling groundwater that it does not pay for and then selling it
