I had a pretty tough evenibg nyself last night. My ex was being psycho as usual early in the night.
and then I was home alone in the new place and had really bad anxiety about it... then around 3:30 am someone knocked on the door lightly ... just once ... like as if they were seeing if someone was there ... then was trying to break in. So needless to say my nerves are shot and I am exhausted from lackof sleep

I dont think I would have froze at all if I were not already having a anxiety attack or panic attack like i was.
When I am by myself I get this overwhelming feeling and and super sensitive to any noises and stuff like that. Especially being that the house is way bigger than my last place and its way out of town. Like no one woyld know anything is happening.. if sonething were 2 happen
When you're already amped up with anxiety, it's just a short step to fear. It's normal. You're not a killer at heart and thank God for that.
Whe you're stressed out like that, you're your own worst enemy. You'll play hell with your mind over every little noise or shadow.
All I can recommend are 2 things. 1) you've got to fight for control, starting by taking deep breaths and slowing your heart rate. 2) keep your weapon either on you at all times, or at least within easy reach.
If you don't already, I would strongly advise you to train with the weapon so you always have a round in the pipe.
Being totally familiar and comfortable with the weapon is key.
Sorry for the novel, but I felt it was important to say.
