On a societal level never has been a thing
If you believe misandry is a thing then it's only common sense its reciprocated.
Hehe yeah if everything was equal, yes.
But we know for a fact that women have an ingroup bias for other women whereas men actualy ALSO prefer women.
I'm not using the definition of misogyny that third-wave feminists use, i'm using it like a form of chauvinism. There are elements there.
Sure, chauvinism exists. It doesnt mean you *hate* women i dont think if you are a chauvinist though
No, it isn't just about hate. It's about a lack of respect and trust for a group of people.
Trust me I know, I feel that for women in the general sense lol. But some women knock me on my ass and I gotta respect em.
Let me say this, there havent been many authors advocating for killing women and cutting them up which are respected decades later
*glances at the SCUM-Manifesto*
Or groups of men sittign in front of a camera on TV laughing about how a guy mutilated a girls genitals
Doesnt happen
True. Just like in Crowder's change my mind ep posted today, the definition of a culture is tolerance and encouragement to do something. if you mean that in our society that we aren't encouraged to hate women i'd say thats true. Individual people certainly can feel that but it isn't a part of the culture
yes, I saw the Crowder change my mind ... the hysterical woman sure wore here rape like a badge of honor, to give herself credibility. I wonder ...
I would argue that thats a human universal tbh. Purely from a biological standpoint, we are a gynocentric species based on how our reproduction works and our psychology evolved accordingly
We are very critical of women, as we are with men. But we're also fighting with the ghost of old media.. male-dominated pop culture which was so-dominated because it was marketed to males more than women, them being the breadwinners.
So an argument can't really be won because any point made today can be crushed by the inequality of the sins of our fathers
Well, i dont actualy think women were ever opressed
Did individual women have problems with how things were run? Yes.
Typicly, however, this was informed by what women by in large wanted
I can see how they'd see themselves as oppressed. Like how we view Communist China and their control over their citizens. Women had very strict cultural guidelines. Men did too, of course, as a result of responsibility
Under sharia, its typicly the mother that makes the choice about what to do with her childrens genitals (and muslim men oppose FGM in larger numbers than muslim women do btw). Hebrews, yes, married women of other tribes under threat of death - sounds misogynistic until you look at the fact that men and boys of those tribes had no alternative to death
Women couldnt get a credit card without a male cosigner but they also couldnt be held responsible for any debt (and they still could tell a store to bill her husband regardless if she was married)
And the man could also divorce her leaving her homeless and penniless if she did so.
So lets move past this.
Everyone got the shit end of the stick to some degree.
I dont think it was that easy to divorce back then. But yeah, its not relevant for today, it is when people claim history or even sharia are misogynistic, that kinda requires a look on both sides (technicly even that can only give you an inference, about the motivation for it youd have to ask them)
In any case, i need to catch myself some sleep
night
i wish tim was on here more
