It doesn't matter if you are disabled or not. They are looking for reasons to take you off SSI.

2018-10-20 03:00:39 UTC

To strip away your income.

2018-10-20 03:00:43 UTC

Even if you will be homeless.

2018-10-20 03:00:50 UTC

I have to give up my inheritance.

2018-10-20 03:00:53 UTC

assets in that context is property not cash on hand

2018-10-20 03:01:02 UTC

How bout family?

2018-10-20 03:01:17 UTC

I do not have any close family.

2018-10-20 03:01:19 UTC

Just my mother.

2018-10-20 03:01:26 UTC

I have no children or wife.

2018-10-20 03:01:33 UTC

I feel comfortable since I pretty much have over a dozen I can rely on if it gets tough.

2018-10-20 03:01:39 UTC

Oh..

2018-10-20 03:01:49 UTC

It says cash is assets.

2018-10-20 03:01:53 UTC

Well... thats a problem

2018-10-20 03:02:08 UTC

Are families in the us not that tight knit?

2018-10-20 03:02:17 UTC

I am worried big time about my Inheritance.

2018-10-20 03:02:20 UTC

I never met anyone who was divorced my time here

2018-10-20 03:02:24 UTC

I got 200K in inheritance.

2018-10-20 03:02:32 UTC

My dad put another 100k in it for me.

2018-10-20 03:02:42 UTC

It isn't in my name, but it is mine when he dies.

2018-10-20 03:03:56 UTC

there are alot of ways listed on that page where you can have plenty

2018-10-20 03:06:06 UTC

To be honest, I rather have my dad instead of inheritance.

2018-10-20 03:08:04 UTC

Well I don't want to abuse it.

2018-10-20 03:08:09 UTC

I am lucky to have it though.

2018-10-20 03:08:19 UTC

Most people don't get SSI when they need it and end up on the streets.

2018-10-20 03:08:24 UTC

In the cold and hurting every night.

2018-10-20 03:09:25 UTC

how is it abusing it if it is allowed?

2018-10-20 03:10:05 UTC

if it is following the guidlines set forth it is not abuse

2018-10-20 03:10:32 UTC

Well I was raised to not take advantage of people.

2018-10-20 03:10:42 UTC

I just extend it to the government, because I rather be fair.

2018-10-20 03:10:43 UTC

:\

2018-10-20 03:10:57 UTC

I freaking worry over paying people back for money they lend me.

2018-10-20 03:11:04 UTC

Even if it is 20 dollars.

2018-10-20 03:12:02 UTC

so you think that you working is somehow taking advantage of people? you would be paying into the very program you get from

2018-10-20 03:12:28 UTC

Oh I didn't look at the link.

2018-10-20 03:12:37 UTC

and depending on how much you make the amount you get from the ssa would decrease or remain the same

2018-10-20 03:12:38 UTC

Well if someone hire me, I would helply help.

2018-10-20 03:13:03 UTC

I do donate left over money to charities and help with community if it isn't physical labor.

2018-10-20 03:13:05 UTC

here is the main part concerning ssi

2018-10-20 03:13:09 UTC

Working and SSI Benefits
You can begin to work and continue to receive SSI benefits as long as your wages and other resources do not exceed the SSA’s income limit for SSI; however, your monthly benefit amount will be reduced in proportion to your income.

Here's how the SSA reduces your income. Both the federal benefit amount and the income limit is $750 (in 2018). The SSA will reduce your benefit by the amount of your countable income. If your only income is from your job, the SSA does not include the first $85 you earn toward your countable income.

After taking the $85 adjustment off of your income, the SSA will deduct, from your monthly benefits, 50 cents for every dollar you earn. Here is an example of a person who earns $1,180 a month from working: $1,180 - $85 = $1,095 ÷ 2 = $547.50. The individual’s monthly SSI benefit amount would be reduced by $547.50.

Your monthly benefit amount is also affected by the amount your state adds to the federal SSI payment, if any. For more information, see our article on how much SSI pays.

If your SSI payments stop because you earn too much money (that is, if your countable income is over $750 per month), but you are subsequently forced to quit work because of your disability, the SSA will reinstate your benefits without the need for a new application for a period of five years.
