of course the large chains will, it makes literally 0 sense not to and i dont see a problem with it

2020-03-18 08:01:38 UTC

I can live off cereal

2020-03-18 08:03:04 UTC

I haven't made my mind up about price gouging yet either

2020-03-18 08:04:57 UTC

It’s either taking advantage of worried people or a legit buisness practice

2020-03-18 08:06:38 UTC

Is there a different rule for essential goods?

2020-03-18 08:13:56 UTC

I'd consider a price gouging law on essential goods but nothing else

2020-03-18 08:21:15 UTC

both, cassia

2020-03-18 08:21:26 UTC

there exists price gouging laws in america

2020-03-18 08:21:29 UTC

probably here too

2020-03-18 08:21:35 UTC

but we don't have an official state of emergency

2020-03-18 08:21:52 UTC

i have to venture out for supplies at some point, might try and get up early tomorrow

2020-03-18 08:23:22 UTC

Even price gouging laws can be detramental to the market, like what if they need to increase the price just to keep supply moving

2020-03-18 08:23:37 UTC

Tesco fucked me up with their undisclosed opening time change

2020-03-18 08:23:48 UTC

is it for the elderly?

2020-03-18 08:23:58 UTC

No, it's for Tesco

2020-03-18 08:24:04 UTC

oh

2020-03-18 08:24:07 UTC

what did they do?

2020-03-18 08:24:16 UTC

Close early to restock shelves

2020-03-18 08:24:31 UTC

But in doing so removes 2 nicely quiet hours where vulnerable people can go shopping

2020-03-18 08:25:02 UTC

eh, in times like these it might make sense for them to do restocking when no one is in there

2020-03-18 08:25:18 UTC

i imagine people would yeet pallets of shit that is in high demand

2020-03-18 08:26:25 UTC

doesn't help me much

2020-03-18 08:36:42 UTC

yeeeee, individuals when you're dealing with something like that are not the concern

2020-03-18 08:37:00 UTC

from a business point of view, everyone is grouped as "the customer"

2020-03-18 08:37:13 UTC

and if they keep doing whack shit, then they're gonna take actions

2020-03-18 08:41:37 UTC

well now i get the choice of going in at an ungodly hour and it being fucking heaving, or go late and the shelves being empty

2020-03-18 09:16:32 UTC

Price gouging is just a derogatory term to describe the regular workings of supply and demand, but with a moral label of reeee

2020-03-18 09:17:45 UTC

Most people just can't accept the reality that if essentials become scarce, then prices must spike as a result so that things can return to normal. Don't demand lower prices, just reduce your consumption by becoming more efficient.

2020-03-18 09:18:50 UTC

Preventing price gouging by law is a fasttrack towards starvation.

2020-03-18 09:21:05 UTC

But people will never realize the hypocricy of their hyper-consumerism while at the same time spitting on profit-driven venture.

2020-03-18 09:21:15 UTC

IT'S NOT SCARCE THO

2020-03-18 09:21:35 UTC

It becomes scarce if demand doesn't lower to normal levels.

2020-03-18 09:22:37 UTC

The reason why it's important to raise the prices of anything - essentials or not - if demand is too high is simply to force people into greater efficiency.

2020-03-18 09:22:38 UTC

it is scarce if you can't get it

2020-03-18 09:23:41 UTC

The only reason why essentials are cheap to begin with is because they're so valuable that maximum efficiency is neccessary so that everyone can survive on them.

2020-03-18 09:24:01 UTC

That's why we need to start shooting each other dead

2020-03-18 09:24:23 UTC

No need, just visit a local elderly home

2020-03-18 09:24:29 UTC

coof all over

2020-03-18 09:24:36 UTC

multikill

2020-03-18 09:25:21 UTC

Start killing the commies, then the ETBrooD-like ultra-corporatists

2020-03-18 09:26:23 UTC

You mean the people who keep the economy running and your socialist ass clean.
