I swear, social distancing was announced, then my shop (greggs) got like 3x busier
it was madness
Makes no sense to lock areas down where there are not yet many cases of covid infections.
That will only result in a later, more sudden, uncontrollable outburst.
you have no idea if an area that "has no cases" is full of people in incubation period

The virus can't be "contained", it'll break out eventually. And when it does, you need to be prepared.
It's best to let it spread in a controlled fashion than to contain it for long periods.

Playing for time is a good thing though. More time to prepare is more time to stock up on vital equipment (esp. ventilators apparently) as well as time to develop vaccines and other treatment

imo, closing borders and going all out on tests is the best course of action
they need to figure out more conclusively if it causes long term damage

problem is, fewer train/tube services = more people crammed in to the same train if they continue to use them - same thing happened in new york
so they need to figure that one out
in Portugal they will be locking everything
only police and health personnel will go around
people are mostly worried about food now
the market was not prepared for full lockdowns
