I live in a country where we just repealed Blasphemy laws
The problem is, those quiet trans people have to interact with society, and there's going to be a conflict between what they think and what society 'thinks'.
Who wants to go in some Amazon with me?
we can exploit, we just need to exploit well, you see.
I don't condone hate speech
but controlling spech is.......
speech* (it's 5am)
it's its own issue
The problem is the radical transactivists ruin trans like the radical gay and lesbian activists ruin that community and the radical feminazis ruin feminism
😦
We have societal rules and norms built around sex and how different sexes interact.
Honestly, I just don't care to add more vocabulary
Jumping across the lines creates conflict and confusion, as we see in this very discussion on the topic.
Yeah. I think letting the govt decide what is and isn't free speech is pretty much always the wrong decision since even if you agree with them now, you might not their next decision
Radical activists ruin things for everyone.
I work with trans people, there are a lot of trans people in the software industry, I don't have any issues with 'em, and I can not for the life of me remember paying any attention to which washrooms they enter.
It's only an issue because someone is trying to tell my lawyer or physician friend where to go to the bathroom
Soon (TM) they will come for you
To them.... the end justifies the means. Who cares if someone gets hurt in the processes.
we don't have to do ANYTHING
we just keep doing what makes sense at a personal level
Almost everyone accepts it and moves on.
everything works out just fine
Yeah, most people don't care, they just want to live
I feel bad for the trans people who just want to transition and fit in as a normal person for having to deal with all the people 'speaking for them' and treating them as some holy specimen
if I see a sketchy motherfucker of any description enter a washroom I am responsible for
I'm probably going to keep an eye on the situation
@Bookworm *society* you say?
vocal minority, extremists, etc
Keep bringing it all up
Yes, we have societal conventions, including regarding bathroom use.
The problem is when the vocal minority is the active majority
I rather present my idea and not speak on anyone's behalf. Speaking for people is a lot of burden and I am kind of lazy.
I sometimes use women's washrooms
We live in a society
but I don't when I think it will upset people unduly
The problem is when the vocal minority influence the norms*
Most of us do.
I guess Cabin Jack in the Alaskan boonies can do pretty much whatever he wants.
I need a cigar
