their policy about this pmuch starts with "don't trust china, china is asshoe"

2020-03-23 22:25:52 UTC

maybe the rest of the world shouldn't trust china either

2020-03-23 22:26:39 UTC

I mean should we trust any authoritarian state?

2020-03-23 22:27:40 UTC

true. the only good info you'll get from an authoritarian state is what they *do*

2020-03-23 22:27:44 UTC

as opposed to what they say

2020-03-23 22:27:58 UTC

hecc, applies to less tyrannical regimes too

2020-03-23 22:28:16 UTC

applies to everything

2020-03-23 22:29:29 UTC

@ryvergate clearly allah helped them

2020-03-23 22:29:30 UTC

I still hear people saying this is overblown and the flu kills way more

2020-03-23 22:33:57 UTC

I have never heard of hospitals getting filled to overcrowding over the common flu

2020-03-23 22:35:44 UTC

in fairness people who die from the flu dont go to the hospital in the first place

2020-03-23 22:35:50 UTC

The symptons for most people are mild I believe the issue lies more on how fast corona has been capable of spreading causing like in that article hospitals becoming overloaded and more frequent vulnerable people being targeted thus killing more.

2020-03-23 22:35:53 UTC

im pretty sure the flu kills people quicker

2020-03-23 22:35:57 UTC

with 0 warning

2020-03-23 22:35:59 UTC

corona takes weaks

2020-03-23 22:36:04 UTC

assuming it doesnt give you a heart attack

2020-03-23 22:36:27 UTC

It's the lengthy incubation period that's making the difference then

2020-03-23 22:36:40 UTC

incubation just increases infecivity

2020-03-23 22:36:42 UTC

and how redonkulously contagious it is

2020-03-23 22:36:46 UTC

With flu people would stay home with symptoms and spread less

2020-03-23 22:36:46 UTC

nothing to do with seriousness of symptoms

2020-03-23 22:37:20 UTC

or what lichlord said

2020-03-23 22:37:35 UTC

also there's no vaccine for it
there's a flu vaccine

2020-03-23 22:37:45 UTC

eh

2020-03-23 22:37:49 UTC

flu vaccines arent that good

2020-03-23 22:38:06 UTC

in the worse years flu vaccines only help 20% of people that get them

2020-03-23 22:38:25 UTC

in a few months it's killed more than MERS and SARS combined did, and these got a HUGE head start

2020-03-23 22:38:33 UTC

Well that mostly the virus mutating like a crazy bastard

2020-03-23 22:38:50 UTC

every virus mutates

2020-03-23 22:38:58 UTC

it is hardly unique in that regard

2020-03-23 22:39:08 UTC

he meant mutation *rate*

2020-03-23 22:39:10 UTC

it is just doing better because of the asymptomatic transmission

2020-03-23 22:39:15 UTC

combined with lower lethality rate

2020-03-23 22:39:23 UTC

yes I meant the mutation rate

2020-03-23 22:39:24 UTC

the more lethal a vbirus is the better

2020-03-23 22:39:34 UTC

its mutating the same amount as any other virus tbh

2020-03-23 22:39:47 UTC

but if its lethal enough the virus will kill its host before they transmit

2020-03-23 22:40:05 UTC

you a chinese shill or somethin'?
