@Cody right. But I think seeing the way that they reach those conclusions can allow someone to see those same patterns in future and understand why the arguments they make and the world they attempt to build is flawed.

Just because someone would hurt you doesn't mean everything they think is wrong.
History tends to have precedents of things that can happen today. That is a good reason to preserve history instead of destroy it or alter it. We run the risk of not learning our lessons and end up repeating it. Also we lose any way to warn ourselves to future situation that mirror that past event.
