I think I've gone slightly autistic. Some YT nerd was complaining about the outrage post-Diablo unveiling, and how it's embarassing that people are so upset (and in the manner that they are showing it). So I wrote like an 800 word response to it. I'm surprised the YT commenting system even allowed it. πŸ€”

"Multiple standards of health care for transgender and intersex people emphasize that recognizing an individual’s self-identified gender, not their external genitalia or chromosomes, is the best practice for providing evidence-based, effective, and lifesaving care."

2018-11-04 10:13:36 UTC

That is complete nonsense.

2018-11-04 10:14:00 UTC

In fact, transgender female to males are at higher risk for cancer, if they forego regular screening.

2018-11-04 10:14:15 UTC

This nonsense is bad enough as to be life threatening, in fact.

2018-11-04 10:14:36 UTC

The risk of cancer depends on the person's basic biological reality and has nothing to do with how they identify.

2018-11-04 10:14:53 UTC

I can cite HUNDREDS of scientific papers to support my claim.

2018-11-04 10:15:03 UTC

Let's start off with a few ...

2018-11-04 10:15:19 UTC

Yes, but evidence doesn't matter. Only feelings matter.

2018-11-04 10:15:30 UTC

Braun, Hayley, et al. "Cancer in transgender people: evidence and methodological considerations." Epidemiologic reviews 39.1 (2017): 93-107.

2018-11-04 10:15:54 UTC

"As cross-sex hormones administered for the purposes of gender affirmation may be delivered at high doses and over a period of decades, the carcinogenicity of hormonal therapy in transgender people is an area of considerable concern. In addition, concerns about cancer risk in transgender patients have been linked to sexually transmitted infections, increased exposure to well-known risk factors such as smoking and alcohol use, and the lack of adequate access to screening."

I like to spam studies.

Facts trigger me.

2018-11-04 10:16:45 UTC

I can think of several dozens of areas of research that completely contradict this letter.

2018-11-04 10:18:53 UTC

The studies they cite link to WPATH, which is more of an activist organization, and link to a study that says that it reduces gender disphoria. They forget to link to the studies that show that suicidal risk is no significantly reduced and there is a sizable portion of individuals that regret transitioning.

2018-11-04 10:19:20 UTC

Also, just because it reduces disphoria does not mean it's the most advisable path of treatment. I

You can bleach someone's eyes out if they think they should be blind.

2018-11-04 10:19:32 UTC

Strange how I've seen loads of those "transition regret" videos pop up on my YT recently.

2018-11-04 10:19:59 UTC

And before that, the past month or two that is... I don't think I've seen a single one.

2018-11-04 10:20:01 UTC

They are citing the "Journal of Homosexuality"

2018-11-04 10:20:07 UTC

Yes, very solid research.

2018-11-04 10:20:35 UTC

Okay, so they have 10 references, most of which are total bullshit.

2018-11-04 10:21:11 UTC

For one thing, I wonder why there's no focus on the actual "quality" of the end result. That alone is scary.

2018-11-04 10:21:28 UTC

"We also ask our elected representatives to oppose its implementation, as it would cause grave harm to transgender and intersex Americans and weaken the constitutional rights of all Americans."

Which constitutional rights? A woman with breast cancer has no right to boob implants.

2018-11-04 10:21:37 UTC

What with hairs growing inside "vaginas" and infections, among other things that negatively affect the individual post-op.

2018-11-04 10:21:51 UTC

A man with testicular cancer has no right for an artificial testicle.

2018-11-04 10:22:46 UTC

Also, it says that is an international group, but I only see American universities. Many of the signatures are from students.
