@Win Roe I can't really distinguish between 2016 and Doom Eternal in terms of artstyle tbh.

They both look identical to me

2020-03-21 09:47:46 UTC

Dude do you even have eyes bro

2020-03-21 09:48:12 UTC

@Win Roe Please don't say that. You might give them ideas about ruining quake the same way they ruined doom

2020-03-21 09:48:16 UTC

Like they are very similar since they're sequels but there's more than enough to distinguish them

2020-03-21 09:48:26 UTC

Are you OK?

2020-03-21 09:48:29 UTC

ok, boomer

2020-03-21 09:48:34 UTC

I recently replayed Quake

2020-03-21 09:48:36 UTC

You know DOOM 3 is actually bad right?

2020-03-21 09:48:46 UTC

it's more that its

2020-03-21 09:48:47 UTC

fine

2020-03-21 09:48:48 UTC

I was abolutely made that I got it to run, with only minor modification, from my original install CD

2020-03-21 09:48:48 UTC

@Win Roe Can't say I see any real difference.

Gameplay is fast paced so you gloss over all the details anyway

2020-03-21 09:48:59 UTC

Doom 3 was awesome, milky

2020-03-21 09:49:00 UTC

doom 3 is perfectly fine

2020-03-21 09:49:16 UTC

At the time, it was groundbreaking

2020-03-21 09:49:19 UTC

it's nothing amazing, and the pc port kinda boned the balance

2020-03-21 09:49:24 UTC

@Win Roe Nah, Doom 3 was a step in the right direction actually.

Just not a complete and polished step, but it was very refreshing and a natural evolution from Doom and Doom 2.

2020-03-21 09:49:25 UTC

drowns you in ammo

2020-03-21 09:49:49 UTC

There was a massive time gap, and therefore tech gap between Doom 2 and DOom 3

2020-03-21 09:49:52 UTC

Hell was the only level I unironically enjoyed as a DOOM game, but after that it was such a flatline that I quit, the start was interesting but it doesn't go anywhere worth while

2020-03-21 09:50:06 UTC

Doom 3 was a very successful horror game. And making atmospheric and suspenseful horror games is actually pretty hard.

2020-03-21 09:50:21 UTC

Doom 3 married action and narrative very well

2020-03-21 09:50:25 UTC

darkwood is an amazing horror game

2020-03-21 09:50:27 UTC

I'd imagine it was expensive and time consuming to make

2020-03-21 09:50:40 UTC

Also, the demons in doom 3 looked more "demonic". Whereas 2016 and Eternal just make them look like aliens.

2020-03-21 09:50:56 UTC

There's no Satanic or biblical hints or references in their design whatsoever

2020-03-21 09:51:11 UTC

I dont get you

2020-03-21 09:51:18 UTC

eternal has returning demons from 3 like wraiths and a lot of designs from the og 2 translated to a modern game

2020-03-21 09:51:34 UTC

I havent seen maggots or trites etc but definitely wraiths

2020-03-21 09:51:38 UTC

DOOM eternal designs are alot more faithful

2020-03-21 09:51:49 UTC

Faithful to what?

2020-03-21 09:52:01 UTC

DOOM and DOOM 2

2020-03-21 09:52:02 UTC

advanced boomerism

2020-03-21 09:52:12 UTC

it's terminal

2020-03-21 09:52:31 UTC

@Win Roe That's assuming it would actually be desireable to be "faithful" to Doom and Doom 2.

2020-03-21 09:52:37 UTC

rofl, AA is unironically analysing fucking Trumpton

2020-03-21 09:52:38 UTC

Like the mancubus looks like a full 3d model of the original sprite

2020-03-21 09:52:55 UTC

AA?

2020-03-21 09:53:00 UTC

academic agent

2020-03-21 09:53:26 UTC

Doom and Doom 2 did what they could to have satanic looking designs. But the graphics limitations meant they had to stick with the cartoony style for the most part.

For Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal however, there are no graphical limitations. They should've stepped up their game.

2020-03-21 09:53:43 UTC

How "demonic" is done right:
