Well women are half the potential market for just about anything, so corporations who ignore that demographic cede half the market to their competitors. That said, women are not monolithic and many of us don't like to be pandered to. The noisy ones do, but certainly not all.

Give women a rational role and it'll be appreciated. Stuff women where it makes no sense and not so much. For example, women wouldn't belong in a game recreating the Battle of Cannae, other than fleeing civilians or the support train.
