The Red Wall was incomplete and not well supported until resources flowed in with the Kavanagh hearing. By election day the wall was solid and the wave was weakened by some unexpected red undertow. On election day the wave managed to top the wall with a modest amount of flooding on the landward side, but the wall remained solid. The wave will have to start from scratch in two years and the wall will only get stronger as Trumpism (the wall) gets normalized and mainstream since it was able to survive the wave.
