Has it?

2018-11-18 01:09:09 UTC

I respect BotW for doing something different on many levels, but I also have lessened respect for it because they were obviously trying to copy the whole open world notion of everything, and the constant weapon breakage seems to have been poorly playtested.

2018-11-18 01:09:10 UTC

BotW could've used more enemy variety, and the weapon degradation was a little extreme, but you have to admit it's an amazing game.

Bois

2018-11-18 01:09:40 UTC

See, i have a different outtake, i think the weapon breakage wasn't really that bad.

2018-11-18 01:09:52 UTC

I had a house full of high end weapons

2018-11-18 01:09:59 UTC

Weapons break. It's just a matter of how often.

2018-11-18 01:10:00 UTC

and a full inventory of high end weawpons

2018-11-18 01:10:28 UTC

I'm not saying that weapon breaking in and of itself was bad. But the rate and scale that it did kinda hurt many players who didn't go out and farm high end stuff, or enjoy needing to do so.

2018-11-18 01:10:54 UTC

I didn't really do any farming though. I just played the game.

2018-11-18 01:11:15 UTC

I always felt bad when i'd see a new weapon and had to ditch an old one

2018-11-18 01:11:36 UTC

If i would say anything about the weapon breakage, they should allow you to repair them

2018-11-18 01:12:44 UTC

I fel like it's a bit like the first Dead Rising... When I first beat that freaking clown with the minichainsaws, I thought his weapon would be crazy badass beyond all words, and I would be eager to go get it and use the hell out of it, and I'd be great.

... then I got the weapon... and just making kills to get out of that zone, the weapon would already be about to break. So if I turned around and went back for another (rinse and repeat), by the time I got a single one that was in pristine condition, I would've had to raid the area like 20 times.

2018-11-18 01:14:51 UTC

Later I got more inventory space of course, and learned about books, which each book you had related to a weapon doubled its durability... so 3 books on it, and suddenly it had 800% durability. And then 2 or 3 lasted me for freaking ever.

but... that initial feel... that's what I feel like with BotW.
The weapons are just... TOO fragile, and there's no saving them, no repair, no anything of note to make finding a rare and powerful weapon actually FEEL rare or powerful.

2018-11-18 01:15:08 UTC

It probably sounds greedy, but i'd like to see them pursue both more botw style and more classic style

2018-11-18 01:16:52 UTC

I think if they took a Diablo approach to weapon durability, sure keep the durability low, but when it breaks, it just sits in your inventory until you repair it...
Then actually make some weapons rare and powerful and worth hunting down.

That would really shift a lot of the feel.
You find a rare magic ice sword, and you'll still use it somewhat sparingly, but when it's time to use it, BREAK IT OUT, because even if it breaks, you can go fix it later.

2018-11-18 01:17:20 UTC

yeah, something like that would be cool

2018-11-18 01:18:18 UTC

Sure have BS weapons you can toss and not care about either, but those would be really commonplace nonsense. Maybe improve weapon selection a bit while you're at it. Little improvements the game clearly needs.

2018-11-18 01:19:23 UTC

as for a modern zelda sidescroller... I think the world could always use more new (high quality, not the shitstorm of crappy ones that've been flooding steam lately) Metroidvanias.

2018-11-18 01:21:05 UTC

Only if it makes me cry like an anime fan on prom night.

2018-11-18 01:24:18 UTC

I'm curious to see what they're going to do with Prime 4.

2018-11-18 01:24:30 UTC

I liked 1 and 2, but I wasn't a big fan of the Wii controls.

2018-11-18 01:24:45 UTC

So it sounds like the EU is saying Hitler did nothing wrong. His real mistake was just that he should've invited them to grovel at his feet and they would've come willingly.

2018-11-18 01:26:50 UTC

Love him or hate him, hitler followed his heart.
