something that blows my mind is that people with opinions they know are wrong, view irrefutable evidence that they are wrong as confirming their bias that they must be right. The more it is obvious that they are wrong, the more they invest into the opinion that they know is wrong because they view it as being inseperable from their very existance.

We don't have to ridicule specific individuals; getting personal in that regard invites drama and backlash. But we can compare individuals to well-known lolcows like Big Red or Aids Skrillex.
