I’m sorry, but it is extremely cringe when people from the south of the US call people from the north Yankees. It is such an old term that doesn’t really apply anymore. It only makes sense when people genuinely to the south such as Australia call us Yankees. Calling people in your own country, like 8 hour drive away a yankee is cringe as hell

Especially people born late 90’s calling people Yankees. It just makes no sense at all

Like Justin for example: your family is Georgia and Georgia (mom and dad) but you genuinely have no southern traits. No accent, you don’t dress like a southern, so mainly like a modern-ish southern you are so it’s weird seeing you say yankee because you’d expect it from someone like Stuart lmao

I just find it as a old term that made sense when there was the civil war and there was a genuine huge difference in the north and south. Now we’ve blended together and it’s only different in a few spots, like certain towns and areas
