i think you read this key part wrong "“You could afford a nanny, right?” I was on the phone with a friend in New York. She was drinking coffee from a paper cup. Going to an exercise class.
Yes, and for that I was very lucky, but how could I describe it? “It’s like I’m taking a sabbatical. A sabbatical in which I learn what it’s like to be a human mother.”'
"Hearing the taxis in the background reminded me of the years I’d spent in an office building. There were meetings to prepare for and banquets that didn’t end until after midnight in hotel ballrooms. But I had been single, and the weekends stretched out before me like marathons. One Saturday afternoon, when I was 27 and feeling bored after a boozy brunch with friends and a walk around the reservoir with my headphones in, I called my older brother one too many times to talk. He said, “You’re always alone, aren’t you?”"
Jesus christ
"Now I was needed. I was never alone.... Maybe the old me was not really dead, just changed, and the reward of my choice to stay home would not be better-off kids but a better-off self. I would return from my sabbatical with a broader perspective and a bigger heart, knowing something of the world that I hadn’t before."
Damn, son...
sounds like the realization of a hard lesson you didn't know you need but are glad you are learning
Kind of like when I started writing my book. I hated it at first, but then realized that I was good at it.
you are writing a book?
Sounds like she's been feed propaganda about how it's great to be a single woman in the work force until you die, then she realized she's alone, and having kids was something she never thought about until she had them, now she's reeling.
she is not a single mother
I didn't say she was
She was single until she was 27, then she realized that she was alone
Then got married, and had kids
what are you talking about today, kids
articles posted above
Tumblr shutdown porn and lifestyles of a stay at home mother
oof I did misread it. thank you for correcting me @Grenade123
@DrWittMDPhD idk if she got married at 27 and had kids, or if she was just alone while at work, unable to call a husband also at work.
@AHeroQuest i misread it the first 2 or 3 times too, lmao
i blame the typical bs we look at day to day. Had to work out all the preconceived notions
This sounds like she was single

ah you are right.
would have been helpful if she detailed what age she had kids
Yeah
Might've even taken her till 30 tbh
At youngest she was 27 though
most likely she had kids late
she kept stressing her husband's words/actions towards her along with her mother's worry for her
betting she wish she had kids earlier when she had more energy
she moved in with her parents while the husband stayed at the original home
Yeah handling babies is hard work. Doing that at 30 is no fun
But its normal now
Idk if any of you have seen this trailer but
It's really fucking bad
. . . I don't think so. She mentioned more than a couple of times how she wishes to be at work rather than taking care of her children all the time (even though it's not really like that)
This is supposed to be medieval England
Yikes @AHeroQuest sounds like she wasn't really into being a mother in the first place?
Yea our society has definately has pushed career more on women than family
women push carrier on other women, not society)
@Swedishmafia101 but was it tho; I had gotten the impression it was like a sci fi reimagining of the story
