So is a group of 49% of a group not a mob?

2018-12-04 04:54:03 UTC

In reality, I think society is controlled by about 30% of the population at any time and another 30% just don't care.

2018-12-04 04:54:17 UTC

@pratel all of tradition, culture and behaivors extend from copying and learning social actions of those around you as a child until it becomes part of your very being to the point that it seems inseperable. even language itself is a form of mob rule to facilitate communication

2018-12-04 04:54:37 UTC

Again, You're stretching "mob rule" here. I'd rather call that a social convention.

2018-12-04 04:54:51 UTC

If there were 4,900 people with torches and pitchforks in the streets out of a town of 10,000 is that not a mob?

2018-12-04 04:55:13 UTC

Yes that's a mob.

2018-12-04 04:55:15 UTC

United States is basically ONE BIG experiment that succeed beyond our imagination and now that experiment is threaten by going down the path of pure democracy without any constitution or bill of rights to protect us. Our representatives have tried, on both sides, to subvert the constitution to achieve their aims.

2018-12-04 04:55:54 UTC

I wouldn't say were at risk of too much democracy at the moment. I think we're more at risk of oligarchy from people in places like tech companies.

2018-12-04 04:55:55 UTC

By changing the meaning of words, weaseling words to suits their needs.

2018-12-04 04:56:33 UTC

That is something that needs to change Pratel, I agree with the oligarchy social tech companies that founding fathers couldn't foresee.

2018-12-04 04:56:40 UTC

Yeah I don't think our liberties are being threatened by mob rule, I think it's our corporate overlords

2018-12-04 04:56:42 UTC

is it? or is democracy being used to force a non democratic bordering on autocratic form of rule as a means to an end?

2018-12-04 04:56:47 UTC

There is no terms or definitions to limit them.

2018-12-04 04:57:00 UTC

The Intersectional Marxists in power

2018-12-04 04:57:07 UTC

because it seems we're reverting to fuedalism

2018-12-04 04:57:17 UTC

I don't think that's quite what's happening.

2018-12-04 04:57:28 UTC

That is because social media giants are placing us in bubbles.

2018-12-04 04:57:33 UTC

But I do think this idea of narrowing the public discourse should be an obvious call for concern.

2018-12-04 04:57:39 UTC

We will eventually end up with a single ideology or type of government.

2018-12-04 04:57:51 UTC

Instead of what is considered a mixed and grand experiment of United States.

2018-12-04 04:58:12 UTC

You also have universities and the like actively trying to remove the protections and norms of society.

2018-12-04 04:58:28 UTC

single person or small group leading a world wide nation. Which has roles like how bankers can act in the form of princes and tech ceos as barons...

2018-12-04 04:58:40 UTC

They changed the constitution to a "Living Document" making it much easier for them to claim the constitution should be changed through mob rule.

2018-12-04 04:59:30 UTC

Hell before they that, they said Congress had the authority to change the constitution how they saw fit.

2018-12-04 04:59:59 UTC

You ever smack a bitch in the face while fucking her

2018-12-04 05:01:02 UTC

To be honest, I am rather sick of people saying that our "Inherited Rights" are up for debate.

2018-12-04 05:01:12 UTC

Same

2018-12-04 05:01:14 UTC

They are not, end of story.

2018-12-04 05:03:21 UTC

@Misomania it's not feudalism though. Feudalism is the pledging of military power to create micro-states. This is more subtle, it's creating a propaganda department and letting it run amok. A democracy with a secret police to a degree.

2018-12-04 05:03:37 UTC

More like Modern China than Feudal England.

2018-12-04 05:04:36 UTC

China has freedom of speech and elections. You just aren't allowed to ask questions or make discussions that "threaten the safety and harmony of society and the state" and your election choices are rather narrow.

2018-12-04 05:04:50 UTC

A constitutional right *is not enough*

2018-12-04 05:05:23 UTC

thinking more of what will happen with this globalism and corporatism mixing

2018-12-04 05:05:24 UTC

Why even call it free speech when it's clearly not

2018-12-04 05:05:46 UTC

Propaganda value. The Social Justice left is all for Free Speech too, you will notice.

2018-12-04 05:06:06 UTC

They just have a very peculiar definition and very peculiar set of ideas on what counts as "free"

2018-12-04 05:06:23 UTC

Very narrow set of definitions.

2018-12-04 05:06:28 UTC

That keeps shrinking.

2018-12-04 05:06:31 UTC

Yes, so they *say* they have free speech

2018-12-04 05:06:49 UTC

@Misomania again, still not feudalism. The left has this notion of corporations acting as feudal states, but it's just not accurate and most companies tend not to care.

2018-12-04 05:06:55 UTC

It doesn't get us anywhere to use their redefinitions of free speech
