That doesn't require any new invention. The concept of authentication is decades old.

2018-12-07 15:30:02 UTC

yes

2018-12-07 15:30:06 UTC

indeed

2018-12-07 15:30:13 UTC

you ever notice how fucked up tim's teeth are

2018-12-07 15:30:16 UTC

RFC 1991

2018-12-07 15:30:25 UTC

lol - let tim and his teeth alone

2018-12-07 15:30:49 UTC

he's british,

2018-12-07 15:30:52 UTC

leave him be

2018-12-07 15:30:53 UTC

we need a kickstarter campaign to fix his teeth

2018-12-07 15:31:06 UTC

have at - kickstarter would love that

2018-12-07 15:32:06 UTC

So again everyone else is trying to talk about creating a lefty-proof payments system while you're talking about digital authentication.

2018-12-07 15:32:09 UTC

his teeth are a reflection of american politics

2018-12-07 15:32:14 UTC

"crooked" 😉

2018-12-07 15:32:34 UTC

told you it was a pipedream Devpav 😛

2018-12-07 15:32:57 UTC

So verifiability is critical, but blockchain (or potentially DAG) solutions have no role to play? How can you verify a datapoint without a persistent publicly verifiable record (which appears to be your bugbear with blockchain - and to be clear, I understand why you feel that way, I just think the tech itself is inevitable)?

2018-12-07 15:32:58 UTC

carrier pigeon!

2018-12-07 15:33:18 UTC

yes @devpav I am building the foundation while everyone else chases the cryptocurrency dream

2018-12-07 15:33:53 UTC

i actually have more faith in what you explained than the crypto dream Paradigm

2018-12-07 15:33:56 UTC

@Heteronymus Bosch keyservers and DNS records can be verified

2018-12-07 15:33:59 UTC

Wol, I think your comic summed up the situation pretty well. Without financial freedom we might as well fight a revolution.

2018-12-07 15:34:40 UTC

well its the end point,

government controls all the doors, the only ones you can walk through are the ones they let you use

2018-12-07 15:34:43 UTC

there will be a thousand payment solutions that present themselves

2018-12-07 15:34:47 UTC

So what's the difference? I mean, it's a publicly verifiable record, but that's the problem you appear to have with blockchain...

2018-12-07 15:35:05 UTC

And they won't be barter.

2018-12-07 15:35:17 UTC

Thousands canm

2018-12-07 15:35:21 UTC

's survive.

2018-12-07 15:35:36 UTC

There will be only a handful which thrive.

2018-12-07 15:35:40 UTC

blockchain is an audit trail of financial (and other) transactions
public verification of identity is entirely different

2018-12-07 15:35:46 UTC

blockchain is surveillance tech

2018-12-07 15:36:04 UTC

Not only.

2018-12-07 15:36:10 UTC

But it could be used for surveillance.

2018-12-07 15:36:11 UTC

not only, but almost always

2018-12-07 15:36:13 UTC

And it will.

2018-12-07 15:36:17 UTC

it will

2018-12-07 15:36:20 UTC

I agree.

2018-12-07 15:36:22 UTC

it most assuredly will

2018-12-07 15:36:32 UTC

there will be billions invested to make that happen

2018-12-07 15:36:36 UTC

That's why it needs to be in the hands of the public.

2018-12-07 15:36:43 UTC

As much as possible.
