that's the elected head

2018-12-09 13:53:08 UTC

So, centralizing power is not leftist if it is done by an individual?

2018-12-09 13:53:09 UTC

how is that different from a president elected?

2018-12-09 13:53:30 UTC

well, an individual isn't "the government" 😄

2018-12-09 13:53:36 UTC

A king, by his nature, *is* the government.

2018-12-09 13:53:38 UTC

there's no President elected in a Parliamentary System right?

2018-12-09 13:53:42 UTC

"Le etat, ce moi."

2018-12-09 13:53:49 UTC

The state, that is me.

2018-12-09 13:53:52 UTC

a king rules the government

2018-12-09 13:54:04 UTC

Kingdom is a King's private property

2018-12-09 13:54:16 UTC

"E pluribus unum"
One out of Many

2018-12-09 13:54:24 UTC

quotes don't twist reality

2018-12-09 13:54:27 UTC

so a Monarchy is technically the most Libertarian form of govt

2018-12-09 13:55:15 UTC

for the monarch, sure 😛

2018-12-09 13:55:18 UTC

sounds like you dont understand that there are multiple forms of Monarchy and only accept a single and outdated (by about 400 years) concept of direct rule (whether framed in the terms divine or outright naked force)

2018-12-09 13:55:19 UTC

Right, except monarchical philosophies of governance do not recognize the will of the governed as the source of their authority.

2018-12-09 13:55:36 UTC

Rather, the authority of government flows *from* them.

2018-12-09 13:55:37 UTC

as is appropriate

2018-12-09 13:55:55 UTC

explains why they cut off the heads of the authority they were displeased with

2018-12-09 13:56:02 UTC

And, usually, they receive that authority from some divine entity, or are themselves claimed to be divine.

2018-12-09 13:56:05 UTC

Our current elite hate Populism as well

2018-12-09 13:56:15 UTC

Well, wasn't him. Was his grandson.

2018-12-09 13:56:29 UTC

the authority of the government is granted by the people,

If the people think the government should be replaced, they'll either vote it out, or force it out

2018-12-09 13:56:46 UTC

The issue I see with an elected head of state, or appointed, is that any issue that causes an elected govt to fail would also be a factor on the authority of the head of state .. I.E. the head of state would be a partisan position and authority. With a constitutional monarchy where parliament is the highest authority where it stays within the constitution you avoid that.

2018-12-09 13:56:47 UTC

Discontent and rebellion is not authority, merely force.

2018-12-09 13:56:54 UTC

Force does not bestow legitimacy.

2018-12-09 13:56:55 UTC

and what do people vote for?

2018-12-09 13:57:00 UTC

immediate gratification

2018-12-09 13:57:03 UTC

that's what

2018-12-09 13:57:05 UTC

the bolsheviks disagree

2018-12-09 13:57:16 UTC

there is no long term vision in a democratic govt

2018-12-09 13:57:30 UTC

the wh..oh, right.. the ones who ruled for a few months before Lenin and Stalin got rid of them ? ;P

2018-12-09 13:57:43 UTC

rebellion is taking your support away to the point where you give your support to a new faction

And through the might of the revolutionaries, the sovereignty of the new faction is made to claim the previous rulers

2018-12-09 13:57:48 UTC

there is that problem with democracy, @AdorableStormtrooper

2018-12-09 13:57:51 UTC

Force very much does bestow legitimacy

2018-12-09 13:58:05 UTC

a Democratic Govt rather import millions of foreigners from an incompatible culture to pay for pensions rather than privatize the pension system

2018-12-09 13:58:10 UTC

but that is largely one driven by poorly informed electorate.

2018-12-09 13:58:29 UTC

because who cares, I'm out after 8 years, the problems migrants will create is for someone else to deal with

2018-12-09 13:58:50 UTC

our pension system is mixed, you get a public pension but most people rely on a private scheme , either one they have setup or one the company the work for has setup.

2018-12-09 13:59:00 UTC

doesn't happen in monarchy, all the problems are for the Monarch to deal with in the future, he ain't got nowhere to run

2018-12-09 13:59:16 UTC

So, the mightiest has the right to rule by the nature of his might? How bleak.
