The heat, the hammers, heat treatment, etc. I wouldn't mind the hours or days or work

It is, the heat isn't really what you worry about tho (until you do moldings) it's the grinders and sanding that gets people hurt. I almost cut my eye out when a sanding disc flew off and it shattered my eyepro

I really wanna try making a Damascus steel chestplate but that's gonna be a fuckton of metal

I love the aesthetics of Damascus, especially eith the acid wash and how that shit brings out the layers and colors

What's your favorite steel to work with? Hogh Carbon? Spring? Stainless?

I use whatever the thing I'm making needs but my favorite metal to work with is titanium just for the sheer fact I'm at risk of dying any second

When you heat up metal it's only plyable for a short time so we try to move as much metal as possible during that time so bouncing the hammer lets us get more hits in before it cools down, even tho the very act of hitting it both heats it up a little more but also cools it down. Not sure if that's what you meant but 🤷🏻‍♂️
