you can dual apply status effects and give a duration though. Damage and impairment for example for poison. Have the damage it has left get reduced by other bleed effects. But either way once the HP is lost via bleed outs the poison effect ends?
so say it reduces accuracy by 10% and you bleed 10% of your max hp, at a rate of 1% per turn. A secondary bleed effect of 1% per turn would then make that poison last 5 turns rather then 10

@Scribblehatch I just remember being annoyed at games that did have an everlasting poison effect and it often turned into content people hated and avoided
same with long lasting paralysis as well, like in final fantasy 1 when facing 4 ghouls and they kept you perma paralyzed because they would get first strike, paralyze everyone in one hit, then keep reapplying it every turn until your dead
@Scribblehatch the reason I stated it should have a duration also feeds into how you can then make it's damage scale based on time remaining with a bellcurve directing most of the damage toward the earliar stages of poison as well, making a dot more useful is to front load the damage it does
