are all christians the same?
i tried translating a book and when i was reading after myself a month later i found out that some of the original meaning was lost and i couldnt find a way to get it there
I believe that there is a creator but do not claim to know how creation happened, I do believe that in science it is valuable to use what you know works in the equations even if you don't think that what got you there is pure truth
@Paradox no
i identify as christian but i dont support the way it is done
@GoldenPhoenix they are going back to manuscripts written in the language it was originally written in. People routinely go back to the original language to help interpret.
then isn't it possible for one christian to have a different interpretation than another?
how Christians " interpret" the Bible changes from christian to christian, domination to domination, congregation to congregation, and bible version to bible version
Like, One of the apps I got does this for phrases that would be out of context due to translation
to some extent, from bible translation to bible translation
yes, but here's the problem: time differences. every time a new translation is made, even if you have an expert on the subject, the way our modern language differs from the original languages bleeds through
it's still a giant game of telephone
yeah
You forgot the most important part @GoldenPhoenix
The Intent of the Translator.
there is a reason you have Bible scholars. people who study it all the time.
@Kibec I personally know several Christians who have learned to read the original language the scriptures were written in.
the creation story itself was told orally as tradition until it was written down a couple thousand years BC
i think most of the original meaning was lost centuries ago
there is a lot of research you need to do to go from the original writing to making it make sense in current language
I like AMP, gives context where a verse would typically seem to mean something totally different in English
@Salacious Swanky Cat good for you π
AMP?
YE-Creationism is *requires* Evolution to be wrong. Evolution provides an alternative to Bibical Creation. It's not the friggin fossil record they throw out; it's the whole damn science book...
I'm blanking I'm a physics guy
@GoldenPhoenix no it isnβt. Lol. Itβs literally going from the original language straight to English. Hardly some giant game of telephone. Try learning more about translations before you assert things.
i assume this is what AMP is referring to
and the thing about understanding of Bible from Christian to Christian is the same for other religions too
@GoldenPhoenix most of it was written 6th century bc actually
I was raised Christan.
@LittleGiantJ no they donβt throw all of science out. Sheesh.
I know this.
see Muslims for exaple
you're missing the point. the same piece of language translated at different points in history would come out with different meanings based on the method of translation and the common vernacular at the time
Yeah, they cherry pick what supports them; and call everything else a lie.
@LittleGiantJ you donβt know youβre talking about. Lol.
@Salacious Swanky Cat but they throw most of it out of window
not all
@Salacious Swanky Cat you're just calling people liars by now XD
