like the republicans attempt to "repeal and replace"

2019-01-02 18:18:21 UTC
2019-01-02 18:18:25 UTC

Yeah, because they try to weasel their way out of that shit @πŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯ž

2019-01-02 18:18:32 UTC

The YE-Creationist interpretation does not hold up when compared to what we have.

2019-01-02 18:18:59 UTC

@LittleGiantJ I’m saying that they don’t agree with the fossil record. Not the process of evolution. That’s all I’m saying.

It's a complete argument GetOutOfJailFreeCard and they know it

2019-01-02 18:19:23 UTC

@πŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯žπŸ₯ž the only problem with translations is that the more you translate it, the farther you get from the original intent. That's one reason the bible is in no way preserved from the original writing

2019-01-02 18:19:35 UTC

and why the greek and hebrew translations are considered better than english

2019-01-02 18:19:47 UTC

@GoldenPhoenix you don’t understand how it gets translated. Lol

2019-01-02 18:19:57 UTC

i think any book is most understood in its original writing ... when it is translated it will lose some of its original meaning no matter how hard you try to keep the meaning of it cus the translation is subjektive

But a lot of that problem can be circumvented with annotations

2019-01-02 18:19:59 UTC

some words and phrases to not translate well

2019-01-02 18:20:18 UTC

@Grenade123 i agree

2019-01-02 18:20:24 UTC

also, depending on who does the translating, culture phrases and context are sometimes lost

2019-01-02 18:20:39 UTC

which can lead to baby its cold outside becoming a song about date rape

2019-01-02 18:20:42 UTC

"how it gets translated" is irrelevant. changing languages always introduces inconsistencies

2019-01-02 18:20:43 UTC

I don’t think any of y’all actually understand how Christians even interpret the Bible. Lol

2019-01-02 18:20:59 UTC

which christian

2019-01-02 18:20:59 UTC

I am a christian

2019-01-02 18:21:09 UTC

are all christians the same?

2019-01-02 18:21:11 UTC

i tried translating a book and when i was reading after myself a month later i found out that some of the original meaning was lost and i couldnt find a way to get it there

2019-01-02 18:21:14 UTC

I believe that there is a creator but do not claim to know how creation happened, I do believe that in science it is valuable to use what you know works in the equations even if you don't think that what got you there is pure truth

2019-01-02 18:21:19 UTC
2019-01-02 18:21:46 UTC

i identify as christian but i dont support the way it is done

2019-01-02 18:21:54 UTC

@GoldenPhoenix they are going back to manuscripts written in the language it was originally written in. People routinely go back to the original language to help interpret.

2019-01-02 18:21:55 UTC

then isn't it possible for one christian to have a different interpretation than another?

2019-01-02 18:22:06 UTC

how Christians " interpret" the Bible changes from christian to christian, domination to domination, congregation to congregation, and bible version to bible version

Like, One of the apps I got does this for phrases that would be out of context due to translation

2019-01-02 18:22:08 UTC

yes it is @Paradox

2019-01-02 18:22:44 UTC

to some extent, from bible translation to bible translation

2019-01-02 18:22:47 UTC

yes, but here's the problem: time differences. every time a new translation is made, even if you have an expert on the subject, the way our modern language differs from the original languages bleeds through

2019-01-02 18:23:03 UTC

it's still a giant game of telephone

2019-01-02 18:23:07 UTC

yeah

2019-01-02 18:23:15 UTC

You forgot the most important part @GoldenPhoenix

2019-01-02 18:23:22 UTC

The Intent of the Translator.

2019-01-02 18:23:24 UTC

there is a reason you have Bible scholars. people who study it all the time.

2019-01-02 18:23:28 UTC

@Kibec I personally know several Christians who have learned to read the original language the scriptures were written in.

2019-01-02 18:23:39 UTC

the creation story itself was told orally as tradition until it was written down a couple thousand years BC

2019-01-02 18:23:43 UTC

i think most of the original meaning was lost centuries ago

2019-01-02 18:23:51 UTC

there is a lot of research you need to do to go from the original writing to making it make sense in current language

2019-01-02 18:24:01 UTC

I like AMP, gives context where a verse would typically seem to mean something totally different in English
