hello, everyone. nice to be here. Great job, Timcast, for being able to make content that seems relatively balanced in this excessively partisan world. I love your content, even from the other side of the political aisle. (now back to your regularly scheduled conversation)

2018-12-17 17:24:57 UTC [Subverse #general]

to control a society, control their speech and their currency

2018-12-18 15:21:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

well this is like 4 convos at once

2018-12-18 15:25:56 UTC [Subverse #general]

that's very obnoxious. Since when is it ok to exert control over another person's actions outside of the reach of the contractually acquired service? that seems like a breach of personal rights to me

2018-12-18 15:29:11 UTC [Subverse #general]

except it's worse than that

2018-12-18 15:29:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

their language is clear, it says "on patreon" and yet they're overreaching the original terms of service

2018-12-18 15:36:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

idk, I think they do, they just don't want to look like they do

2018-12-18 15:38:02 UTC [Subverse #general]

so? it doesn't generate wealth for the society, but it disproportionately redistributes it towards the minority pushing for it

2018-12-18 15:38:15 UTC [Subverse #general]

they don't care that the ship is sinking, they just want the captain's chair

2018-12-18 15:41:29 UTC [Subverse #debate]

halfthink, I don't think you can use terms in the original sense to disprove terms in the modern sense. Language is constantly changing, whether we like it or not, so the original idea of "monopoly privilege" while accurately only applying to governmental interference, doesn't apply to the modern conversation when discussing modern economics. collusion isn't a monopoly, it's an oligopoly, but still

2018-12-18 15:43:29 UTC [Subverse #general]

question: how many here have read orwell, or lowry, or any other dystopian books for that matter?

2018-12-18 15:44:26 UTC [Subverse #general]

@JohnOakman "for bad men to succeed, it simply takes a good man to do nothing" it's more than a matter of time, it's a matter of effort. lies are most easily spread through ignorance

2018-12-18 15:46:41 UTC [Subverse #general]

the one advantage against SJWs is that by their nature, they can't have a "face of SJWism" or else it undermines the purpose. they have to "represent the people" which means the moment you have a figurehead that you can look at and say "I don't like that person" you aren't representative of the people anymore

2018-12-18 15:47:28 UTC [Subverse #general]

we can have "anti sjws" because we don't care, we're not a united front

2018-12-18 15:48:56 UTC [Subverse #general]

remember the last figurehead they had? anita sarkeesian?

2018-12-18 15:49:00 UTC [Subverse #general]

nope, me neither

2018-12-18 15:50:34 UTC [Subverse #general]

SJWs operate on the "holier than thou" basis, so even being entirely misogynistic and racist and authoritarian, they'll be right on one or two things, which they'll repeatedly reference, saying "we were right about this, therefore we're right"

2018-12-18 15:50:40 UTC [Subverse #general]

and use the association fallacy

2018-12-18 15:51:06 UTC [Subverse #general]

or whaever it's actually called

2018-12-18 15:52:03 UTC [Subverse #general]

in theory, I wish the world did operate like the SJW's version of reality, because you wake up one morning and think "I want to be happy" and the world bends to your will

2018-12-18 15:52:46 UTC [Subverse #general]

no

2018-12-18 15:52:50 UTC [Subverse #general]

in theory communism is evil

2018-12-18 15:53:48 UTC [Subverse #general]

except it was never promised in "the book" marx himself wrote that "communism works in two places: heaven, where they have everything, or hell, where they need everything"

2018-12-18 15:54:21 UTC [Subverse #general]

communism takes the idea of altruism and turns it into a mandate instead of a negotiation, that's the evil

2018-12-18 15:55:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

yes, but don't tell that to an an-com, because they'll claim "appeal to nature fallacy"

2018-12-18 15:55:29 UTC [Subverse #general]

speaking from experience

2018-12-18 15:55:43 UTC [Subverse #general]

yes, I know

2018-12-18 15:55:59 UTC [Subverse #general]

oof, didn't expect the spanish inquisition

2018-12-18 15:56:10 UTC [Subverse #general]

or maybe we did, that's why it left?

2018-12-18 15:56:57 UTC [Subverse #general]

does anyone else ever actively seek out opposing ideas just to butt heads with someone for a while and gain new perspective?

2018-12-18 15:56:59 UTC [Subverse #general]

or is that just me?

2018-12-18 15:57:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

OOF now we really didn't expect that

2018-12-18 15:58:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

wouldn't it be ironic if we built an entirely voluntary echo chamber around timcast in this server?

2018-12-18 15:58:45 UTC [Subverse #general]

exactly

2018-12-18 16:00:02 UTC [Subverse #general]

p(h)r(a)a(i)i(l)se T(G)i(a)m(l)c(a)a(x)s(a)t(r)

2018-12-18 16:00:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

idk what you're talking about

2018-12-18 16:01:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

I think that having a designated "disagreement space" is important for the growth and development of ideas

2018-12-18 16:01:53 UTC [Subverse #general]

or maybe just a spontaneous one

2018-12-18 16:02:56 UTC [Subverse #general]

I like how this is the most agreeable group of disaggregates I've ever seen

2018-12-18 16:03:28 UTC [Subverse #general]

what about chik fil a?

2018-12-18 16:03:46 UTC [Subverse #general]

they want to be wholesome and christian yet they're doing Way too well for the current atheist market

2018-12-18 16:04:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

it is their pleasure to serve you, except on sunday

2018-12-18 16:05:07 UTC [Subverse #general]

(service counts as speading the Word in much of christianity)

2018-12-18 16:21:31 UTC [Subverse #general]

here's the thing, I'd believe that a person actually wants to be benevolent, but it's an unsustainable system of government

2018-12-18 16:22:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

poliwho-whats?

2018-12-18 16:23:45 UTC [Subverse #general]

nah, we just all feel like we shouldn't stoop so low

2018-12-18 16:24:09 UTC [Subverse #general]

closest thing to a superhuman that comes to is super scummy

2018-12-18 16:24:17 UTC [Subverse #general]

all politicians? no, but many

the problem is that there needs to be a place where open negotiation between countries can occur, but the UN is being a little too much like a "world government" without actually having the authority to do so. I'm sure that many, if not most of, the representatives have good intentions, but just like the situations within the US and other first world countries, the entire organization is being poisoned by a loud minority claiming to be more virtuous than the rest of everyone, shaming them into agreeing

that's my understanding of it, anyway

2018-12-18 17:41:39 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

medic approves

2018-12-18 17:44:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

you should boycott them for poor packaging practices

2018-12-18 17:46:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

torque wrenches are nice

2018-12-18 17:46:47 UTC [Subverse #general]

totally worth the extra packaging, boycott canceled, boys

2018-12-18 17:50:46 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

oh, no, the slippery slope is fake, they have lots of traction to pull society, kicking and screaming, into their fantasyland

2018-12-18 17:54:17 UTC [Subverse #fake-news]

speaking of stories that are fake news

2018-12-18 17:57:55 UTC [Subverse #general]

OOF

I don't think that any nation or ideologically unified force should "govern the world" because beyond food, water, shelter, and social interactions, no two humans need the same things

If we're going to have a global government, let's actually make one that we can hold accountable.

and it should only be used in case of global threat, such as extreme environmental collapse, extinction level catastrophes, or extraterrestrial contact. Yes, short of aliens appearing and the human race having to unite as a species, I think we should be much more locally governed

2018-12-18 18:25:04 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

even when they get bit by their own beast

2018-12-18 18:57:30 UTC [Subverse #general]

can somebody help me here? I'm being bullied by two commies who say that capitalism is basically the root of all evil and refuse to accept statistics and reality

2018-12-18 18:57:58 UTC [Subverse #general]

A+

2018-12-18 18:58:02 UTC [Subverse #general]

good answer

2018-12-18 18:58:03 UTC [Subverse #general]

will try

2018-12-18 18:59:32 UTC [Subverse #general]

also WTF THEY BLAMED CAPITALISM FOR THE DEATHS IN THE USSR I'M SO DONE

2018-12-18 19:03:00 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

nah, that'd be too easy

2018-12-18 19:03:13 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

they won't get the support from the SJWs

2018-12-18 19:39:43 UTC [Subverse #debate]

maybe? more like they become the government

2018-12-18 19:39:57 UTC [Subverse #debate]

such as Disney owning the city of Disney World, FL

2018-12-18 19:40:28 UTC [Subverse #debate]

or Scientology giving themselves religious NFP status after infiltrating the government to give it to themselves

2018-12-18 19:42:22 UTC [Subverse #general]

jews are hated because they eat all your food when they say they didn't want anything, then they drink half of your soda and half to pee in the middle of the road trip

2018-12-18 19:43:40 UTC [Subverse #general]

Berkeley? the music school?

2018-12-18 19:44:17 UTC [Subverse #debate]

so the commies have already won?

2018-12-18 19:45:08 UTC [Subverse #debate]

ah

2018-12-18 19:45:20 UTC [Subverse #debate]

also technically we do own, according to our rights to privacy

2018-12-18 19:45:41 UTC [Subverse #debate]

it's "owned until bought" basically as I understood it

2018-12-18 19:46:45 UTC [Subverse #debate]

until the bill of rights came along

2018-12-18 19:47:07 UTC [Subverse #debate]

"just compensation" which is very vague

2018-12-18 19:47:34 UTC [Subverse #debate]

and OC who decides what "just" or "unjust" means? the govt

2018-12-18 19:48:32 UTC [Subverse #debate]

they *are*, just not the part that comes to take your stuff

2018-12-18 19:48:46 UTC [Subverse #debate]

which makes commies angry

2018-12-18 19:48:58 UTC [Subverse #debate]

can you tell I've been burned recently?

2018-12-18 20:39:09 UTC [Subverse #general]

*cough* look at wolfenstein II

2018-12-18 20:39:41 UTC [Subverse #general]

great game, love that game, but damn it's got downright communist propoganda

2018-12-18 20:40:53 UTC [Subverse #general]

that's cuz the internet like it is now didn't exist

2018-12-18 20:41:08 UTC [Subverse #general]

and you could pretend that the "public forum" of the internet didn't exist

you can't sue for slander

it's parody

not slander

2018-12-18 20:42:49 UTC [Subverse #general]

basic premise: fight nazis that won the world war. Problem in Wolf II

2018-12-18 20:43:45 UTC [Subverse #general]

you team up with a crew of misandrists, literal communists, and basically anyone else the sjw's consider "right and proper" to beat them

2018-12-18 20:44:46 UTC [Subverse #general]

wat

2018-12-18 20:45:17 UTC [Subverse #general]

ehhh

2018-12-18 20:45:19 UTC [Subverse #general]
