The people who are hit by people being negligent

2019-01-04 16:58:09 UTC

But no1 was hit?

2019-01-04 16:58:17 UTC

It's a preventative law

2019-01-04 16:58:27 UTC

Right. A victimless law.

2019-01-04 16:58:32 UTC

I'd rather see laws around cell phone usage.
Much worse than drving drunk, imo

2019-01-04 16:58:57 UTC

That's like saying you can't arrest someone until they have shot a guy even though there's a gun to the dudes head

2019-01-04 16:59:12 UTC

Well you couldn't arrest them for murder...

2019-01-04 16:59:19 UTC

until after they shot him and he died.

2019-01-04 16:59:23 UTC

You can arrest them for battery

2019-01-04 16:59:28 UTC

but is there a victim before he pulled the trigger?

2019-01-04 16:59:32 UTC

Yes

2019-01-04 16:59:35 UTC

i'd say yes too

2019-01-04 16:59:49 UTC

Yes. There is a victim.

2019-01-04 16:59:56 UTC

That's why your little metaphor was bogus.

2019-01-04 17:00:12 UTC

which metaphor?

2019-01-04 17:00:13 UTC

How is threatening others on the road with your car not the same

2019-01-04 17:00:26 UTC

Well you've escalated it

2019-01-04 17:00:38 UTC

If you drive reckless and threaten others safety by doing so, it's no different

2019-01-04 17:01:01 UTC

And you should be removed from the road as a result

2019-01-04 17:01:28 UTC

yeah i think i agree that if you threaten the safety of others, you produce victims

2019-01-04 17:01:58 UTC

a driver who was nearly hit by a drunk driver, is not a victim of a crash, but a victim of something

2019-01-04 17:02:06 UTC

I don't agree. Unless the threat is reasonable.

2019-01-04 17:02:26 UTC

Who determines that

2019-01-04 17:02:35 UTC

Me. Beings it's my opinion...

2019-01-04 17:02:42 UTC

That's not how it works

2019-01-04 17:02:54 UTC

That is how my opinion works and what i agree with or not....

2019-01-04 17:03:12 UTC

Yes but that doesn't make it inherently true

2019-01-04 17:03:31 UTC

Why it's my opinion.

2019-01-04 17:03:31 UTC

well then you agree that a victim is produced if the threat is reasonable at least

2019-01-04 17:03:52 UTC

yes. I don't necessarily agree on what is considered resaonable

2019-01-04 17:04:01 UTC

Opinions are not truth though

2019-01-04 17:04:03 UTC

They are thoughts

2019-01-04 17:04:10 UTC

if you don't think drunk driving is a reasonable enough threat, i'm not sure i agree, but i can respect that perspective

2019-01-04 17:04:34 UTC

I think it can be.

2019-01-04 17:04:37 UTC

I don't think it always is.

2019-01-04 17:05:01 UTC

yeah i see what you mean

2019-01-04 17:05:04 UTC

It has to be considered either always a threat or never

2019-01-04 17:05:29 UTC

What makes someone walking around pointing a loaded gun any people with their finger off the trigger any less of a reasonable threat?
Because its visible? Because you can actually see the threat?

2019-01-04 17:05:37 UTC

Invisible threats are more dangerous

2019-01-04 17:05:55 UTC

You can't predict the effects of someone drinking and driving, so you have to consider it to be dangerous if discovered
