@Kibec if they are an ethnic jew, they are. If they converted to Judaism while being of some other ethnicity, particularly those which do not also fall under the term "semite", they are not.

Just like how being tied to the church and being protective of it allowed (and still allows probably) priests to diddle kids that easily.
