Ah, okay.
If we should abandon emotions due to their irrationality, should we abandon the survival instinct?
I just said we shouldn't get rid of emotions
I just want dem mechanical limbs and a semiconductor-bases NN to talk to
Not much to ask
The point is that we can only argue from a human perspective as ethics are concerned.
the problem with rationality, is that its justified by "how many people agree with me"
in the west, we think hitting a woman FOR NO REASON is unethical, and only irrational woman-haters agree to that
but in the middle east, they think its Irrational to not "discipline" your wife for whatever reason you choose so you can hit her
If we assume that we are machines, in order to argue, we ignore what makes us human.
Survival of cell organisms is irrelevantin the bigger picture
thing is, ethics are based on morals
morals are relative
so it's near impossible to say for sure that your ethics are the same as someone else's
Humans are icky, get rid of them
Morales are completely universal
But either way, asking the question of the survival of humanity in the first place only makes sense from a human perspective.
SJW's consider themselves to be the rational centrists
we consider them irrational
they consider us Nazi's
Rationale is based on who agrees with you,
people who agree with you are rational, people who disagree with you are irrational
My emotions are dissatisfied with humanity, thus begone
and to impose your morality on someone else can be seen as unethical
Otherwise the middle east would be better than a shithole
If we excluded all emotional considerations from our argument, we could not argue about this in the first place. It would not matter what happens to us.
```Rationale is based on who agrees with you,
people who agree with you are rational, people who disagree with you are irrational```
No.
We can both agree that the Sun is made of cheese.
i thought rational meant to be in ratio with reality
We are both irrational.
Some things are objectively not caring about human feelings, like laws of the universe
thats cuz you don't actually agree on it at that point
it's subjective is what @Dr.Wol is saying
Undead
If you thought it was, and someone said otherwise, you'd think them irrational
You misunderstand
Yes, some things are objective.
but you don't believe it yourself, so you call yourself irrational for thinking it
if you hear something you don't agree with, you will think the person saying it is being irrational @Undead Mockingbird
In so far as they cause no contradictions in the models we are able to construct through our empiricism.
that's just how we work
He is saying that rationality is relative to perspective
Humans evloved emotions to survive within a group. Empathy is a hell of a drug.
it might be relative to our understanding of reality yeah
