2019-02-03 06:43:03 UTC

I was planning on starting a cult in order to take over the world

2019-02-03 06:43:06 UTC

Well loved. @Turtle

2019-02-03 06:43:16 UTC

i think if you follow his other stuff, then you've probably already gotten the content that's in the book anyway but i don't really follow JBP

2019-02-03 06:43:22 UTC

why is it so scuffed

2019-02-03 06:43:23 UTC

2019-02-03 06:43:33 UTC

but basically it taught me to avoid anything that resembles a little red book, a bible or a self help guide

2019-02-03 06:43:43 UTC

I mean

2019-02-03 06:43:47 UTC

that's kinda stupid lol

2019-02-03 06:43:48 UTC

@Turtle ever read the overcoat?

2019-02-03 06:43:50 UTC

the bible seems like a good read

2019-02-03 06:43:52 UTC

Jpb fans are a little cultish

2019-02-03 06:44:05 UTC

No I haven't atticus.

2019-02-03 06:44:07 UTC

if you don't know the content that's in the book, how do you formulate arguments against the ideas in the book?

2019-02-03 06:44:14 UTC

But @zalfir you’re just making yourself sound autistic

2019-02-03 06:44:17 UTC

If you're gonna read one self help book you should read multiple and piece together what's right for you.

2019-02-03 06:44:17 UTC

imagine if all atheists totally avoided the bible

2019-02-03 06:44:21 UTC

i really recommend it

2019-02-03 06:44:26 UTC

@FUCK fire I was a hipster before it was uncool

2019-02-03 06:44:26 UTC

2019-02-03 06:44:29 UTC

2019-02-03 06:44:32 UTC

f u

2019-02-03 06:44:37 UTC

I read the Torah and the bible but I was raised Jewish.

2019-02-03 06:44:43 UTC

there's a reason most atheists know the bible

2019-02-03 06:44:44 UTC

its a old russian goody

2019-02-03 06:45:00 UTC

My favorite book of the Torah in the tanakh is Ecclesiastes

2019-02-03 06:45:13 UTC

i like some of the fables from the bible

2019-02-03 06:45:27 UTC

eventhough im muslim

2019-02-03 06:45:29 UTC

A good number of legitimate atheists, as opposed to unstudied or agnostic, were Christians in the past.

2019-02-03 06:45:32 UTC

obviously

2019-02-03 06:46:38 UTC

If there is a god I believe human interpretations of god are not correct innately through our lense.

2019-02-03 06:46:50 UTC

i read penn jillette's book on why he became an atheist

2019-02-03 06:46:51 UTC

I don't mean to say I avoid them entirely, what meant was avoiding them during times of flux

2019-02-03 06:47:09 UTC

honestly it's just a cherry pick

2019-02-03 06:47:49 UTC

Jordan Peterson's book is a good example because it's obviously hitting a part of people's psyche in the right way

2019-02-03 06:48:00 UTC

I read the Quran. Rough read and you really need to cherry pick hard for good messages and morals in many parts.

2019-02-03 06:48:06 UTC

in another place and another time, it might not, that's when I'd read it

2019-02-03 06:48:15 UTC

I like to think of the bible as entirely allegorical. Means that I can abide by the nice things like the turn the other cheek and the do unto others stuff, and not yaknow agree with slavery, kidnap marriages and putting to death

2019-02-03 06:48:18 UTC

That’s kind of retarded

2019-02-03 06:48:39 UTC

why is it wrong to cherry pick messages and make your own optimal morality
