I remember now

2019-01-27 18:58:13 UTC

in my area they are

2019-01-27 18:58:13 UTC

but if there was a small store trying to sell some cheap goods, it wouldn't fare well vs walmart

2019-01-27 18:58:17 UTC

You're good with US politics

2019-01-27 18:58:29 UTC

they sell small food stuff, just like Asda

2019-01-27 18:58:30 UTC

Who are you going to vote for when you're older Sid?

2019-01-27 18:58:51 UTC

eh idk

2019-01-27 18:58:52 UTC

tbh

2019-01-27 18:59:06 UTC

Do you prefer Labour or Conservatives?

2019-01-27 18:59:17 UTC

cons

2019-01-27 18:59:18 UTC

defo

2019-01-27 18:59:23 UTC

I'm for the Conservatives, I hate Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott a lot too

2019-01-27 20:00:04 UTC

ye

@hcaez @sɪᴅɪsɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀᴇ @chad What do you think about the near future automation of jobs that will cause unemployment to rise incredibly as human workers become obsolete and expensive compared to robotic workers? Should we impose regulations on the amount of robotic workers companies can hire, or maybe a base income for everyone since the majority of people will be unable to work?

2019-01-27 20:13:05 UTC

I think it's a perfect opportunity to invest into infrastructure

2019-01-27 20:13:28 UTC

there's tons of work that needs to be done there, our nation's bridges need a ton of work rn

2019-01-27 20:13:56 UTC

that’s actually a good point

2019-01-27 20:14:12 UTC

But the government can’t employ the same amount of people who would be replaced by machines

2019-01-27 20:14:39 UTC

And if they did the need for infrastructure upgrades would diminish leaving us in the same place we were

2019-01-27 20:15:28 UTC

hmm I wanna say you underestimate how much work there is to do there, but I don't know the numbers of potentially displaced workers/how much work is needed for infrastructure

2019-01-27 20:15:38 UTC

at the very least, I offer it as a partial temporary solution

2019-01-27 20:15:53 UTC

and a way to make our country amazing in a specific way ya dig

2019-01-27 20:16:08 UTC

Well think about it though, roughly 250M available workers in the US

2019-01-27 20:16:15 UTC

if the government employed all of them

2019-01-27 20:16:28 UTC

We should take 25% of our military budget then put it into infrastructure programs

2019-01-27 20:16:31 UTC

250M unemployed? is that what's meant by available?

2019-01-27 20:16:36 UTC

ooooh I love it shadow

2019-01-27 20:16:37 UTC

No no

2019-01-27 20:16:42 UTC

Like

2019-01-27 20:16:47 UTC

That’s just the work force

2019-01-27 20:16:53 UTC

I don’t know the exact number

2019-01-27 20:16:58 UTC

oh, the whole work force won't be displaced

2019-01-27 20:17:04 UTC

Obviously

2019-01-27 20:17:08 UTC

But the majority will

2019-01-27 20:17:08 UTC

lots of jobs are safe

2019-01-27 20:17:15 UTC

By the time machines replace most jobs

2019-01-27 20:17:23 UTC

The population will have increased as well

2019-01-27 20:17:31 UTC

you think? where you getting that from. America doesn't have a strong factory presence anymore, and that's who gets automated

2019-01-27 20:17:46 UTC

I mean I’m also talking globally tho

2019-01-27 20:17:48 UTC

service and skilled labor isn't gonna go anywhere

2019-01-27 20:17:49 UTC

oh
