Yay, I get something right!
That there is a good source for that then
Sixth form / college is optional, high school is not (very simply put)
@asparkofpyrokravte I absolutely agree, everything has to be as robust as possible.
Only a sith deals in absolutism
Then I object to that on the grounds that it is very, very hard if not impossible to make that a robust point and the closest the article ought to get to that is quoting that UCAS chief person
who is conveniently pretty explicit herself
Yup.
In fact, that quote would make this article a lot stronger.
and yeah, @Tomas males vs females expelled from academies is interesting. The problem is that boys legitmately are more likely to have good reason to be expelled
@Men Are Human The quote is already in there
@asparkofpyrokravte Sorry. I'm very tired, lol
The paragraph "Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case in the UK." is basically devoted to that quote
@Men Are Human We can continue this tomorrow if you wish
We could have a longish chat about schools not letting boys run around enough
I really do like that bit about boys "zooming around the class like rockets"
I'm glad to hear that. 😃
And thanks for being so patient with me.
Feel free to ask me to get into voice chat on this when you're free, that might be an easier way to discuss some of it too
Many dont have good reason though- parents in my area are struggling with academies illegally excluding autistic kids, across country is an issue- autistic boys and adhd boys tend to need to move more and not be quiet like girls with similar diagnosis in general
I suppose I'm not surprised
Alternative schools eg forest schools or summerhill in the uk manage to bridge the gap?
@asparkofpyrokravte Yeah, but then you'd hear my wierd accent. XD
@Tomas Oh yeah, they put me in a cupboard with a book because they couldn't control the bullying.
Hey, by the way, we need a group of people to politely answer messages from people the next time the Twitter feed jets jacked by angry SJWs.
I'm thinking people who are in a kind of response squad who are capable of de-escalation and who won't have a meltdown or call people names.
Our goal here is largely to convince lurkers, rather than opponents - however, I have seen opponents convinced by polite facts. Or, at least, made to stop and think.
I would be up for that, I am great at getting myself banned on feminist subs... I mean talking with decent
On a serious note though, I do already actively try to go out of my way to have conversations with those kinds of people, even if it is completely futile, I like to try, because I believe that they are not bad people, they are good people who have just been completely misguided
I could do that from time to time, though I'd need to create a twitter account for it.
I sorta already do that on reddit. The character limit on Twitter would make it a lot harder
I forgot about those word limits, that's a pain
Thanks a lot guys. Maybe I can make a 'response squad' tag for you all that I can @ what do you think?
@Anti-Troll Police
Lol
I'm not sure we should think of them as trolls though, might set a bad mood to confront them in.
@billy-goats-gruff? ;)
@Men Are Human we have that in common - I was stuck in a closet to study too because of bullying, altho i was lucky it was where one of the teachers kept her computer that was always logged into the teachers network (late 90s) and i spent that year reading about the other kids and teachers issues (i was a nosey kid) and changing autocorrect so normal words like 'exam' would correct to silly or rude ones
I hid in the library, mainly
People still got to me, though. But it was rarer.
